H-how did you...?
Who: Kanji and Naoto
Where: Building 2, 2-01
When: December 24th
Summary: A misplaced, crumpled note falls into the right hands, and Kanji finds himself with an unexpected guest.
Warnings: Hardcore CAKE BAKING and avoidance of eye contact.
Kanji sighed and flopped across the couch, let himself vegetate for a minute. After running around Saeng Seong for the last few days, a combination of his Crafter work and fighting crazed snowmen, he could finally say he was pooped. Christmas, for him, was pretty much over and there was nothing else nagging at his mind.
'Course, there were the last couple of gift bags he needed to bring Senpai and Naoto, but those could wait until tomorrow, after sleeping the hell in. The slow cooker gave a soft ding, letting him know everything he'd thrown in there that morning was all set to go, but he ignored it as he sat up again and ran a hand down his face.
He fuckin' blew it.
He couldn't even count the number of notes he'd tried to write, slip into the mail slot for the apartment upstairs or even under the door, the number of poor slips of paper he's crumpled up and just thrown in the trash as he found the message too forward, too simple, too stupid... because everybody knew that inviting somebody around for Christmas Eve - in Japan, anyway - wasn't exactly something friends did. At all.
He thought notes were easier, too. Then he could say what he needed to, and she could just th-throw it away if it was no good and everything would be cool.
"Tch." Whatever. Pushing himself back on his feet, he pushed all that out of his mind. The note never got sent. He didn't have to worry about it. He'll just eat dinner on the couch, work on some cross-stitch, then get some sleep and see if the others are up to cake and Christmas stuff proper tomorrow.
At least he didn't have to worry about Mystery Food X... not that he really had it, thank god, but the horror stories, man.
The horror stories.
