C-crap, he'd walked right into a landmine. He pulled back his hand completely, knowing she'd not take that well at all. He didn't meet her eyes, feeling his stomach twist.

So in other timelines, Shinjiro didn't make it at all. It was bad enough with their own that he nearly was killed, but to think of losing him completely...

"I'm sorry."

She probably hated to hear that, but it was true; he was sorry he upset her further, and sorry for that loss she suffered, along with everyone else. He wasn't at all surprised at her complete, utter denial at what was going on; he'd pretty much expected it. But at the same time, he couldn't lie to her either...

"Yukari,I don't blame you for not believing me. I barely believe me and I've been here for 5 months now. But I wouldn't lie about someone being alive when they're supposed to be dead... you know that."

His own brush with death and subsequent revival and the price of that second chance weighed heavily on his heart, even when he tried not to dwell on it.

"... I'm not brainwashed, either. But... I'll help you look for everyone else."

Maybe she needed to see things with her own eyes to believe it's true, after all.
