Kit is glad to notice James relaxing a bit as she goes to work on picking the lock. And yes, her way made much less of a mess.

It took a few minutes during which neither of them really talked- Kit concentrating on her work, and James watching- before there was a faint click. Kit grinned, removing her lockpicks and opening the window with a triumphant grin. "Ta-da!", she said, gesturing to the now open window with er free hand while sticking her lockpicks back in the pouch where they belonged.

"You wanna go first, or should I?", she asked. Because now that they'd gone to the trouble of opening the window, they needed to see what was inside. It was a rule. Or something.
