"You don't--you're supposed to remember," he said, almost sounding desperate behind the monotone. If Steve didn't remember, what chance did he have? Had this place done something to him? He wasn't thinking clearly enough to recall the things about how time worked with this place--he was using about all his energy on thinking of how to deal with a Steve who remembered what happened between them.
