As the team descends the staircase and opens the door, they are greeted with the sight of a narrow tunnel - only large enough for one full-sized troll to fit through - carved out from solid granite, with only black and blue candles to light their path. The candles themselves don't give much light either, being placed within crevasses that were cut out to place them so that there would be less danger of accidentally setting ones clothing alight. The floor of the cave is cold as well, yet the sound of the sirens seems quieter...
