Who: Everyone Where: The Welcome Plaza When: 18th July, afternoon Summary: The new arrivals, freshly pulled from their worlds or others, awaken in a strange plaza... Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. SOME NPC RESPONSES WILL BE SLOW UNTIL THE ONE WHO PLAYS THEM IS PRESENT. The first flickering of a lantern... It's a shuddering breath, a sensation of being pulled to elsewhere and finding oneself pressed against something rather hard with the sound of water coming from nearby. However, before one can fully stir, there is something that lifts you up from the rather warm (yet why did it feel like a chill going down your spine?) stone when you begin to drift off once more. It felt as though someone had thrown you from the frying pan, and then into the freezer - all you wanted to do was sleep... Yet the feeling passes quickly, and when you awaken, you begin to realize your surroundings. It looks like...a plaza of some sort? As they look around them, the ground beneath them is an intricate mosiac - a water fountain at the center of the plaza in this foreign world. There are many buildings around its perimeter, making this location seem like a central hub of whatever town this was. Some may even recognize the peculiar design of the buildings and sloped tiled rooftops as a Far Eastern theme. Were they somewhere along the Pacific? Who knows! But what is quite apparent is this: Along with the many buildings surrounding the plaza, the first thing that is noticeable is the amount of people sitting or standing around you in a similar daze. You are not alone... One building seems to stand out among all the others; one that seems large enough to house all of the completely lost and confused masses gathered here to the welcome plaza. A sign outside the door reads: WELCOME CENTER Newcomers: Please come inside for refreshments and your welcome packets! Odd... This wasn't written in your own language, and yet you find it easily understandable. Soon enough, if you don't enter on your own, someone comes from inside the double doors to usher you and everyone else inside. "Welcome to Saeng Seong! I know you must be confused as to where you are and what's going on, but we promise to explain this to you once we're inside and away from the hot sun!" Whether you go inside immediately or linger outside a little longer, eventually you must come in from the hot summer day, and sooner rather than later would probably be better. You'll find yourself in a well-lit lobby, filled with comfortable-looking couches and chairs. Along one wall are refreshment tables, loaded with all sorts of food and drink, including some you probably aren't familiar with. On the wall opposite are a pair of desks, each with a sign and a person seated behind them - Irene, General Assistance Devin, Technological Assistance However, before you can go over and give them a piece of their mind and ask for questions, the same person who ushered you inside hands you a manilla envelope that contains your welcome packet, urging you to read this before asking the three figures questions that the packet likely answers. Inside it, you will find: a ring with a key and apartment number on it, some kind of cash card, a map and informational guide to the city, and a letter folded neatly on the top - Welcome to Saeng Seong! You are among a new group of arrivals to our city, from many far-apart worlds. We have gathered you here because our city is in a crisis, and we are at our last resorts. The energy of the city is in a slow downward spiral, and is dangerously close to expiring altogether. That's where you come in - you and everyone else we've brought to the city. Unlike those of us here, you have the potential to generate the energy the city needs, but you'll need to work together to do it. Why? Because the energy can only be generated when two people touch each other. Any touch will do, but it must be between two of you who are new to the city. If you don't keep in contact with someone, eventually your energy will begin to drain as well, making you dangerously ill. A few other things: The closed-off sections of the city are closed off for a reason; approaching them will cause your energy to drain very rapidly. We're working to open the rest of the city to you as soon as we can, but for now, please remain within the two central districts of the city. You have been given a key to a one-bedroom apartment in a complex set aside for you and the other new arrivals, near the riverside in the 1st district. You're free to change your living quarters whenever you like, and we encourage you to move in with someone in one of the larger apartments. When you want to change, just come back to this building to exchange your key. We've also included a cash card with a living stipend; if you're unfamiliar with this system, or the network established for new arrivals, you can talk to Devin in the lobby for help. It's what he's here for. If you need medical assistance, contact Mai, one of our nurses - she'll be going around today for anyone who needs help. Again, welcome, and thank you for all your help. Sometime after talking with Irene, but either before or after Germany speaks with Ren, you can find Germany just walking around the crowd, he has a notepad and pen in hand and will take note of anyone he meets. He does not know if it is wise to approach the unrecognizable people or not.

If you're a nation, than he may approach you first. If he spots you before you spot him.

If you're not a nation, he will talk to you only if you approach.

Germany clearly has a heavy German accent, no matter what language you're hearing him speak in. After his conversation with Irene he has come to the conclusion that this is not an enforced vacation and he is taking it surprisingly well. Perhaps he's in shock?

As Spain approaches the snack table, he quickly realizes that he will need to choose between all these glorious food items in front of him, or the packet of information that may or may not give him any information he may want and need later. He is unsure about his current situation, however, it is usually not productive to try and solve problems on an empty stomach so he chooses the food and places the packet on the table.

After picking up a few food items and sampling a few, he rediscovers the packet and decides to use it as a tray to vessel his food effectively. With his new collection, he turns away from the table and spots a familiar face and makes his way over to Germany, cornucopia in hand.

"Ah! You're here too?" His voice sounds somewhat happy to see a someone he knows, with a tint of obvious disappointment that it happens to be Germany and not anyone else. Apparently, beggars CAN be choosers.

Ah, one of his current pains. At least here he is not fighting an oncoming economy cold, it seemed. His eyes are judging you, Spain, he can tell you haven't read your packet and he does not approve of using it as a food tray.

"Ja, I have been assigned to apartment," he checks the keyring once more, "3-14 of building one." The question is obvious in his voice, do you know what apartment you're in Spain?

Spain sees Germany's eyes but he is unaware and uncaring of how hideously judgmental they are. He's mostly happy to see someone he recognizes in a strange new place, he doesn't have time for such dicketry. All he knows is that he has a "tray" of delicious and tasty treats and that actually reading the packet is secondary.

"An apart--" he notes as Germany checks a keyring and Spain is drawn to pulling out his own set of keys. He holds his tray of scrumptiousness out for Germany to hold for him so that he may fetch his keys, the tone in his actions more obvious than the tone in Germany's questioning voice. "I need to check the number. Wouldn't it be funny if we were roommates?"

He laughs lightly even though the idea of being roommates isn't funny at all.

Germany doesn't have much choice but to take the "tray" of food, but he nearly drops it when Spain mentions roommates. He silently begins praying that god will be merciful to him in this case. He didn't think it would be fun at all and it would probably be deadly on his ulcer.

His voice is hesitant as he asks, "W-which apartment is it?"

Spain hands off his food, careful not to spill a single appetizer before reaching into his pocket to pull out his keyring. He looks at the number and then back to Germany before answering, "Building 2, apartment 4-01. Kind of lucked out there, eh?"

He returns the key to his pocket before taking a piece of food from his own tray that he allows Germany to continue holding. (He's doing a pretty good job, why take it away from him?)

A thought hit him momentarily. Because he hadn't read the packet or talked to anyone else, the only thing that even registered as 'normal' right now was the guy directly in front of him and that was not okay in any situation. "Is it just you and me?"

[it's the notepad and pen that gets her attention; she'd headed over here as soon as she heard new people were arriving.

After 28 years, Asuka's own German accent has mostly dissipated unless she starts doing it on purpose (or needs to swear, because honestly Japanese can't swear). Either way, when she calls out this seemingly-14 year old's ethnicity might not be immediately clear]

Excuse me! Local or new?

[Germany is surprised to be approached by a child. But he is determined to be polite to everyone]

Ah, I am new, und are you as well?

[-German? She blinks, and switches languages. It's actually been a while; outside her, Misato, Ritsuko and all the people she'd inadvertently taught 'Schiesse!' it was a dying language where she was from.

Much like the rest of them.]

[you don't know how happy he is to hear someone speak his language. So he'll switch to his native language because talking in it was easier than English]

I am known as Federal Republic of Germany. Though most just call me Germany. I have also been known as Ludwig on occasion.

[those were very distant occasions]

I take it this is not your first day in this city?

Es ist nicht. I've been here a month or two; give or take.

[the name gets a confused tilt of her head]

Would that make you Germany the country?

[puckoff]

[ Having come at the sound of yet another "welcome party" to see how many more people were coming to "assist" the city, Canada was not entirely surprised to see a new nation or two, considering both he and America had been summoned first. But considering he'd seen more than just one or two in his first glance over the group did surprise him considerably.

Germany is one of the first he spots with his violet eyes; after gauging the situation and judging Germany to be shockingly calm about this, he approaches him slowly. Shock is definitely a possibility, and the young nation keeps that in mind. ]

Germany, hey. [ Smiling awkwardly. ] Just got here?

[it takes a moment to remember who Canada is. But confronted with him makes it easier. So after about a minute he nods]

Ja, I am not sure how I came to be here.

[puckoff]

Yeah, no one knows exactly, eh, based on what happened to me too.

You just kinda... show up. [ With a grimace. ] And start... hugging. So you don't get sick.

What kind of illness is it? [he is curious about the mechanics]

[puckoff]

[ He tries to describe what little effects he'd felt of it before America found out he was here.

...He'd never felt sick since, considering all the bear hugs he got from the other nation on a continuous basis. ]

You know, it's kind of like a hangover at first. [ Fun stuff. ] Headache, groggy, disoriented.

But I hear it gets like the flu later-- Achy, tired, weak, just downright sick. Point being to avoid it. Molossia already had it bad a week or so ago.

Wooooow, you're so tall!

[Cu Chulainn walks over to the man and looks upward at the man's face.]

[Germany looks down at the child]

Most grown men from my house are quite tall. I am average height for my people.

[beforetights]

Wow, really? Where are you from if all your people are really really tall?

[And now he's trying to hop high enough to be eye level with Germany.]

[he's a bit concerned about the kid tiring himself out, but he didn't have any experience with kids. He was always the younger nation]

I am Germany. [and that's where he was from, of course]

[beforetights]

Germany? That's a weird name. I've never heard anything like it.

[The child shows no indication of tiring yet.]

I'm Cu Chulainn.

Guess who had spotted you from afar Germany? That's right! Over come by sheer happiness, Italy's mouth widens into a full bright smile. Someone, he knew, was also here! This person not only being someone he knew, but a good old friend of his. A nation that he has been friends with for a long, long time. Italy couldn't help himself but run over towards Germany. Anyone else that were around seemed lost to him, including the food at that very moment! The food had been a nice sight to see. It smelled delicious and there were many different types of food to eat. That all didn't matter now.

Once Italy got close, his arms spread out forward in front him, the bright grin visible as he finally makes contact with the blond haired, blue eyed nation. Italy wrapped his arms firmly around Germany, giving him a tight hug as if he hadn't seen him in ages.

"Germany! Germany! You are here too? Is anyone else here?"

For a moment Germany stiffened as if he was under attack, but when he realized it was just Italy, he relaxed. And then he was thinking about the fact that it was "Just Italy". He was worried again.

"Italy," he said, surprised, looking down at the other nation before giving him a hug back. He was not going to answer the question whose answer was obvious, because Italy couldn't hug him if he wasn't here. "Ja, I have encountered America and Spain and suspect others are here."

Italy was scared at first when Germany stiffened, had he done something wrong? Yes, they were out in public and usually the German would be lecturing about that. As Germany hugged him back his smile brightened even more.

Looking up at Germany, he slowly pulled away from him but puts a hand on his arm. "It's nice to know that a friend is here too." There was something else on his mind as well. "Did you also get a key?"

"It would be better if none of us were here, we all have things to do at home," Germany stated. But he nodded at the question. "Apartment 3-14 of building 1," he stated, "which did you get?"
