[Open] To Find a Bat

Where: Everywhere (not off limits, anyway)
When: June 10th, through the day.
Summary: Exploring the town, and teaching Sissel how not to lick himself in public.
Warnings: Batglares.

It was another night in costume for Barbara, standing on a rooftop with her cape fluttering behind. It made little snapping noises as the wind pulled it taught. Both hands on her hips, creating an image for anyone who might look up. She'd usually use it to scare criminals. Right now she was using herself as a bat signal, though, her eyes looking not for criminals but for her favorite caped crusader.

She'd stay up there for maybe half an hour before getting bored, and taking to the streets - whether he showed up or not . Barbara knew he was around somewhere - in one identity of his or another. She just had to find him.

"Nein, one of the kidnapped," he says, immediately a bit surly. It's not her fault--she obviously wouldn't phrase it as one of the citizens if she lived here--but it's a little hard to be properly polite with that hanging over him.

She'd thought it was a slightly better turn of phrase than "One of the kidnappers." Just in case he actually was a citizen.

"...German?"

"Ja, Bavarian. It's where we keep all the best baked goods." He'd try to do something about the accent, but it's something of a handy conversation starter. "I go to school in the States, though. I mean, when I'm not hanging out in Creepy Kidnapping City."

"Like an exchange student?" she asked, curious. He definitely spoke pretty good English... but she'd noticed he he hadn't said anything about parents or moving, just going to school.

Batman would probably be proud of her deductive reasoning.

That was the official reason, so he nodded. "Ja, getting the All-American high school experience." He sounded only mildly sardonic. He wasn't sure he preferred the American approach, but he wouldn't have been able to enter the school system at home, anyway, and the chance to actually have a life entirely outweighed that question. "Mostly consists of cheese fries, so far."

"Try the garlic," she recommended, giving another glance down to the streets. She couldn't believe they were seriously doing this casually. Her in a costume, hi on a rooftop. But it seemed t be working so far.

"Chili is better. Or, well, I can get garlic at home whenever I want." He was pretty used to weird conversations on roofs, and not so much to the costume thing. This was far from the weirdest thing that had happened lately. "You from anywhere fun?" Might as well be polite.

"On fries?" she challenged, putting one hand on her hip. Casual it was. Though it sort of made her wonder about his story.

"Gotham." A heartbeat, while she remembered that wasn't recognized by most people here. "New Jersey."
