Who: Shinjiro, Junpei, and you! Wait, did I say Shinjiro and Junpei? I meant Santa Claus. Santa's helpers. Something like that.
Where: Various apartment locations.
When: First part: before Cupid's party. Second part: Late at night on Christmas Eve and the wee morning hours of Christmas Day.
Summary: It's a three-parter! Part One: Junpei volunteers Shinjiro to cook. Part Two: Junpei makes it up to him. Part Three: Two not-so-mysterious boys venture into the apartments to deliver special gifts.
Warnings: Shinjiro's mouth as usual.

"Uh."

Crap. This was already going down south.

"W-weeeell... I kinda offered that maybe you'd be able to make food for it...?"

Putting his hands up defensively in front of him, Junpei quickly followed that up--

"I'd help, of course!"

Shinjiro's glare intensified a little. Junpei was known to do stupid things, but he didn't expect anything like this. "I don't think so."

Oh god. Now he was wondering what was worse; Mitsuru's glare of doom, or Shinjiro's.

But maybe there was still a chance to convince him!

"Why not though? It's not like you're doing much else, right...?"

He knew Shinjiro senpai wasn't working anywhere; he seemed to just hang around the streets or apartment most nights.

"Besides, you like cooking, don't you? What's the harm in doing it for other people?"

He wasn't doing much, truth be told, aside from odd jobs to help pay for the rent. And none of them involved his hobby. He needed to do something more. Maybe this would get him some work he wouldn't mind doing.

"What do you need?" He asked softly, but without lowering his guard.

"U-uh--"

Well, that had been a bit easier than he thought! But still, what would they need?

"Well, it's a party, so like... finger foods, sandwiches? Things that aren't super greasy."

And shouldn't be too hard to make, either.

"Hors d'oeuvres..." Shinjiro opened a drawer and pulled out a red book, flipping through the pages with the same stern look he'd greeted Junpei with when he arrived, examining the ingredients, tools needed, and prep times.

"You ever cook anything?"

"Or... derves?"

Not him too with the french! And did Shinjiro have cook books hidden everywhere in the apartment...?

"Uh... do cup noodles and egg rice count...?"

Rubbing the back of his head, Junpei looked a bit sheepish.

"I mean, I can cook simple things okay! I just haven't tried for anything complicated..."

Also, if you had more than 5 steps to the meal, Junpei started taking short cuts.

"But at the very least I can probably cut stuff up or wash dishes for ya, you know?"

Shinjiro learns his French in cookbooks. It's surprising what you learn when you're focused on a hobby.

He heaves a sigh, which is symbolic for him agreeing to the task. "Be here the morning on the day before the party." He commands, looking Junpei directly in the eyes.

"Yessir!"

Junpei salutes the older teen, but he couldn't wipe that grin off his face. Yesss, his plan was working!

"I'll be here bright and early to help you, Shinjiro-senpai!"
