Pokémon Palooza!
Who: PokéSpecials (Gold, Silver, and Crystal), their new juniors (Naoto, Yuna, and Diarmuid), and a bunch of Pokémon.
Where: The wide park area of District 4, specifically by the lakeside.
When: April 12th, mid-morning
Summary: It's probably time for the new Pokémon trainers to understand exactly what they're getting into. Aka: A bunch of Pokémon trainersenpai seniors get to help out their kouhai juniors. A lot of Pokémon fun, probably! (Is Pokémon even a real word anymore.)
Warnings: Probably a lot of cute stuff and intense fussing, because that's what trainers from Johto absolutely do best. Also some responses will be slow (from me at least) -- feel free to threadjack where needed, seniors, since everyone's going to be in the same general area.
Crystal'd delivered the eggs to their respective trainers (Paras to Naoto, Horsea to Diarmuid, Totodile to Yuna) late last night, since they'd been on the edge of hatching, along with a request for them to meet up at the lake in District 4 -- as it was both fairly close and big enough for a big Pokémon gathering.
Luckily, it's a pretty nice day outside (or, well, it isn't threatening to rain -- that counts!) on the day they've decided to convene at the lake. The Pokémon are enjoying the pleasant spring weather too, though a few have opted to take to the water (Kingdra especially) instead of sitting out on the bank with their trainers.
It's just time to wait for the three new trainers to arrive with their baby Pokémon so things can get underway...
[ooc: phew! prose and brackets are both welcome, just use whatever you're most comfortable with.
also: the juniors should at least each make their own open thread for other juniors as well as GSC kids to reply to when they'd like. pokémon is all about forming bonds with people and pokémon alike -- let's keep the spirit going!]

[Diarmuid turns his eyes from where Horsea is playing to look at Crystal. Said eyes are still wide with excitement.]
I am so happy that I got picked to have him. He's the best pokemon ever. Even if he does get me wet sometimes!
[As if to prove the point, Horsea picks that moment to squirt some water Diarmuid's way. The boy just raises his hand to deflect it and then wipes his hand off on the towel, giggling the whole time.]
I think he's sad I stopped watching him...
no subject
Seems so. Was your puppy freaked out about him? [It's something she's been thinking on. Diarmuid and Cucuc both have dogs, and while there's no indication Pokémon wouldn't get along with animals from different worlds... Horsea kind of looks like a squeaky toy.] And your little brother and his, too.
no subject
Everyone was curious, but no one was...'freaked out.'
[The phrase is a little odd to him, so he says it slowly.]
We stayed up all night waiting for the egg to hatch. My brother and the puppies fell asleep, though. That is why they aren't here, though my brother wanted to see the other pokemon. I can't wait to take Horsea back so we can properly introduce everyone!
[The boy pauses suddenly, looking curious about something.]
Are we allowed to give our Pokemon names? Horsea is just the type of pokemon he is, right?
no subject
That's right, and you can. Mama's the one who got me into the habit of nicknaming my Pokémon, and Gold nicknames his too -- I think Silver's the only one out of us three that doesn't. That's probably just a personal choice.
no subject
[Diarmuid splashes some water Horsea who squirts some back at him.]
It's better to have a real name, isn't it, Horsea? We will think of something. I am sure my brother will help! It will be a very special name for a special friend.
Oh! That's right, I have to ask! What do I feed Horsea? Does he eat human food or something different?
no subject
[Right? Yeah.]
You should probably find a pretty big aquarium to put him in to -- I can help. They like living in coral in the wild, and keeping him hydrated's going to be your biggest concern.
no subject
[Diarmuid asks because he knows that the puppies primarily eat dog food, but sometimes they give them human food as a treat. He wouldn't want to make Horsea sick on accident.]
I would be glad to have your help! Or...
[The boy suddenly giggles.]
I don't think they will let me put him in the big Aquarium with the rest of the animals no matter how large it is...
no subject
Pokémon food back home is made from specific berries and other things to make it as nutritious and helpful to the Pokémon it's meant for, and since we don't have anything like that here [yet? though, it's not like she'd ever know how to make it exactly either] I'm hesitant on going with anything they wouldn't eat in the wild...
And if you can't get an aquarium, keeping him damp'll be okay. Towels, spray bottles, bathtubs... Stuff like that.
no subject
I don't want him to get sick, so I will be very careful. We have a big tub and sink! I don't think it will be a problem keeping him wet until we can get an aquarium. Since the puppies like the park, I can also bring him to the lake. I am sure he will like that even better than just being in a tub, won't you, Horsea?
[Horsea bounces up and down in the water happily, splashing some water toward Diarmuid.]
Yes! That would be a 'yes.'
[For a minute, he smiles and then frowns slightly.]
If he does get sick, should I bring him to you or one of the other trainers?

no subject
Thank you. I am going to try very hard. Horsea is my partner and I don't want to let him down. Friends and partners don't do that!
Is there anything else that you think I need to know right away?
no subject
Not that I can think of off the top of my head. [Apologetically.] But if you have anything else to ask, just come over. Gold and Silver live just down the hall too, if you'd want to get in touch with them instead.
no subject
[Diarmuid throws his arms out wide, though he is careful not to hit Crystal. In the lake, Horsea bops up and down happily making waves splash against the shore.]
Horsea will get lonely if he never gets to see other pokemon. Besides, when we are ready, he needs to learn how to fight them too.
no subject
With luck, you'll never have to fight. [Still... the living snowmen, the exploration day, other situations to come...] Your seniors'll take care of it all, okay? What's most important is forging a bond with your partner, not fighting other trainers or anything like that.
[Little kids shouldn't have to fight to protect themselves!]
no subject
[He's just a little knight, but still...]
I know the bond is important, but...
[A small pout crosses his face.]
...I want to help protect people too!
no subject
no subject
I'm the big brother! Of course I will protect him and Horsea can help!
[Even if Cu Chulainn will eventually grow up to be Diarmuid's childhood hero, in a way reversing their roles...]
no subject
Horsea's smokescreen is great for getting away without anyone noticing, so make sure you use it to your advantage. [Other than that...] That's pretty much all I can think to teach you. Right now, anyway.
no subject
Smokescreen?
[As if to demonstrate since it's obvious Diarmuid doesn't know exactly how it works, Horsea uses the ability in question. The sudden cloud startles Diarmuid into standing up, but as soon as he waves it away, his eyes are bright with understanding.]
I see! That will be useful!
no subject
If you practice with it, you'll be able to control it like Parasee can control her spores. Well - not exactly like it, but you'll definitely get better control over it. [Another hair ruffle - sorry, Diarmuid, she's used to it.] I'm going to make sure everyone else is doing all right with their new partners, okay?
no subject
Then we will practice a lot! Thank you for taking the time to talk to me. I hope that everyone else is doing as well as I am! I will make sure to contact one of you if I need anything.
[He waves at her.]
Have a good day!
