Steve still didn't know what to say to him, but he felt that he couldn't leave him alone either. After all, he did reveal that he was suicidal and it didn't seem right to just leave him be after learning all that. Maybe he didn't know how to make Shinju feel better, but Steve should at least show some form of support.
