INTRO LOG - JUNE 2014

Who: Everyone
Where: The Welcome Center
When: 18th June, late afternoon
Summary: The new arrivals, freshly pulled from their worlds or others, awaken in a strange place...
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. NPC responses may be slow.

It's a shuddering breath, a sensation of being pulled to elsewhere and finding oneself pressed against something on the soft and some place cozy. However, before one can fully stir, there is and odd, warm stirring sensation that lifts you up from wherever you've been dropped, when you begin to drift off once more.

Yet the feeling passes quickly, and when you awaken, you begin to realize your surroundings. It's a small room with what some might recognize as a Far Eastern theme when it comes to decor, from the walls to the sofa (or bed) you find yourself on. Illumination is provided by carefully crafted lamps, and even a candle flickering on a nearby desk. The doors are made from paper and wood, with a thin frame; through them it's easy to hear other people stirring, talking, or coming to.

You are not alone...

Close at hand there's a note that reads:

WELCOME CENTER
Newcomers: Please come downstairs to the lobby for refreshments and your welcome packets!

Odd... This wasn't written in your own language, and yet you find it easily understandable. Soon enough, if you don't enter on your own, there's a gentle knocking on the door as someone comes from downstairs to usher you along.

"Welcome to Saeng Seong! I know you must be confused as to where you are and what's going on, but we promise to explain this to you once you've had a chance to stretch your legs!"

Whether you go downstairs immediately or linger a little longer, eventually you must come down and get out of the small space, and sooner rather than later would probably be better. You'll find yourself in a well-lit lobby, filled with comfortable-looking couches and chairs. Along one wall are refreshment tables, loaded with all sorts of cool and relieving food and drink, including some you probably aren't familiar with. It's just as well they're in good supply, as the windows outside show a city well heated from a summer sun.

On the wall opposite are a pair of desks, each with a sign, and one person at her station-

Rhea, General Assistance
Andi, Technological Assistance

The plaques have a shiny new look to them, as do the desks. The one with 'Andi' listed appears to be empty, though. Gathered around both desks and several tables are boxes as well, and...Empty jars? The woman minding her desk doesn't appear to give them a second thought.

However, before you can go over and give at least one of them a piece of your mind and ask questions, the same person who ushered you downstairs hands you a manilla envelope that contains your welcome packet, urging you to read this before asking the two figures questions that the packet likely answers.

Inside it, you will find: a ring with a key and apartment number on it, some kind of cash card, a map and informational guide to the city, and a letter folded neatly on the top -

Welcome to Saeng Seong!

You are among a new group of arrivals to our city, from many far-apart worlds.
We have gathered you here because our city is in a crisis, and we are at our last resorts. The energy of the city is in a slow downward spiral, and is dangerously close to expiring altogether.

That's where you come in - you and everyone else we've brought to the city. Unlike those of us here, you have the potential to generate the energy the city needs, but you'll need to work together to do it.

Why? Because the energy can only be generated when two people touch each other. Any touch will do, but it must be between two of you who are new to the city. If you don't keep in contact with someone, eventually your energy will begin to drain as well, making you dangerously ill.

A few other things:

The closed-off sections of the city are closed off for a reason; approaching them will cause your energy to drain very rapidly. We're working to open the rest of the city to you as soon as we can, but for now, please remain within the first five districts of the city.

You have been given a key to a one-bedroom apartment in a complex set aside for you and the other new arrivals, near the riverside in the 1st district. You're free to change your living quarters whenever you like, and we encourage you to move in with someone in one of the larger apartments. When you want to change, just come back to this building to exchange your key.

We've also included a cash card with a living stipend; if you're unfamiliar with this system, or the network established for new arrivals, you can talk to Devin in the lobby for help. It's what he's here for. If you need medical assistance, contact Mai, one of our nurses.

Again, welcome, and thank you for all your help.

Irene Rhea
Arrival Liaison

Outside, and through the translucent glass you can see a banner hanging from the tiled roof of the building across the street. The cheerful colors on it match well against a bright blue sky:

WELCOME TO SAENG SEONG
(ENJOY YOUR STAY!)

Hey, at least one person here wasn't going to leap up and say they knew him and expect him to have everything in order and...

He rubbed at his head.

"Yeah, well... it's been a week."

Which was putting it mildly. He didn't recognize this one, either, so he settled for an apologetic grimace.
nerdica: (happy chatting)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-06-20 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"For you and me both. I'm pretty sure Skids and Riptide nearly got Trailbreaker killed back in our universe and if not then someone's going to write up a tasteless story about it that I won't be able to read and point out how awful it really is."

That is not what he's asking, and Nautica shuffles a bit. "I'm Nautica, by the way. I don't think we were every formally introduced on Cybertron, what with the destruction and the universe ending and the trial right after."
arnhaid: (Angel angel - what have I done?)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-06-20 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Nautica can probably see his eyes glaze over at her first statement. It's like watching a kid listen to a lecture in the wrong math class or something.

"Uh."

He shakes his head a bit, and awkwardly holds a hand forward. Right. That's a start. But then--

"Hold on! The universe what? What trial are you talkin' about!"
nerdica: (nope i'm out)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-06-21 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nearly ended? It's not the sort of thing one misses." Or at least she doesn't think it would be if you fought during it, which Nautica is certain he did. "Megatron's trial?"

She takes his hand to give his a friendly shake in return. Well, it's a start at any rate.

arnhaid: (Say wha huh now?)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-06-22 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't..."

He trails off, staring at her helplessly. Like what she's saying is going to suddenly start to make sense out of nowhere.

"I don't know what you're talkin' about."
nerdica: (oh that's sad)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-06-22 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Her face falls slightly because how do you deal with this. "So uh, what's the last thing you remember? I'm completely caught up on Cybertronian history so I'm certain I can help you fill in the blanks."
arnhaid: (B[ my default face.)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-06-23 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Punchin' Alpha Trion in the jaw," he told her, without the slightest bit of remorse or embarrassment.

But then he nodded. "Might be helpful, yeah."
nerdica: (such ladylike laughter)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-06-23 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Nautica laughed at that, grinning. "Have you met Chromia yet? You can both talk about how insufferable Alpha Trion is."

They'd definitely get along as far as she was concerned. "Alright. Give me some time to get settled and we'll set up some time to start. Beginning of the war good for you?"
arnhaid: (B[ my default face.)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-06-24 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Chromia?" He frowned for a minute, then shook his head. "If he feels that way about Trion too, I like 'im already."

... Right. He wasn't up to speed on the whole Female Pronoun thing. Sorry Nautica. Please don't tell on him.

"I remember that," he said. "It gets fuzzy somewhere toward the beginning... maybe. Primus, I dunno even how long it's been goin' on anymore."
nerdica: (such ladylike laughter)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-07-01 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
That's met with a rather large amount of laughter, but not cruel.

"She. Chromia's not-- we don't use male pronouns." The stress on the we, and Nautica taps the paint on her lips helpfully. "Don't worry, I think everyone else is still getting used to it, too."

But as for the rest of his questions, well, she's got answers to that too. "Four million years. But it's over now, if that's any comfort."
arnhaid: (Angel angel - what have I done?)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-07-01 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"... Oh. Uh. Sorry."

Scrap. Not five minutes with other Cybertronians again and he's already stepping in verbal landmines. He scrubs at his face, having the good grace to look embarrassed at the... slip.

But! The ride doesn't seem like it's over just yet! Once again, she completely floors him.

"It... it what?"
nerdica: (uh huh)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-07-01 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Over! It actually ended before Chromia, Windblade, and I joined up. But now that Megatron's been on trial I suppose it really has ended."

They're going to keep on coming, Ironhide. Because Nautica doesn't really think these are important things to space out when filling someone in.

"But I can get you caught up no problem. Give me three, four weeks, and you'll have it all memorized like I did."
arnhaid: (kid what the fuck)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-07-01 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
He stares at her, like she's grown a second head. He can't look away from her. Because she's just yanked the ground out from under him.

"I uh..."

The big frame starts levering itself down to the ground.

"I gotta siddown."
nerdica: (yeah that was a verbal slap in the face)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-07-01 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uh, are you-- are you going to be okay?"

This has never happened to her before. What does she do?

"It's okay though! The verdict's been put on hold until we find the Knights of Cybertron thanks to some ancient law. But he's officially joined the Autobots and renounced the Decepticon cause."

Nautica, she's a helper.
arnhaid: (I'm no hero)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-07-01 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not if you keep sayin' scrap like that!"

He's usually more stoic than this. But hey, in the last day or so, there's been a lot to accept. He waves at her, as if to forestall any further information bombs.

"Just... stop. Gimme a minute."

Or twenty.
nerdica: (why is ultra magnus so tall)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-07-03 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right, sorry. I'll just--"

Stand here.

Waiting.
arnhaid: (Brood brood brood.)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-07-04 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
And he just. Sits right down. Right where he was standing, one hand pressed to his face.

It's... a lot to take in. And the big guy has no idea how to really handle it.

"I uh..." Awkward silence. "Sorry."
nerdica: (yeah that was a verbal slap in the face)

[personal profile] nerdica 2014-07-04 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
"It's okay, really."

She sits across from him, since there's really nothing else to do.

"Um, if you have any questions or anything--"

Nautica can fill you in, Ironhide, no problem.
arnhaid: (woke up under a spell)

[personal profile] arnhaid 2014-07-04 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
"... I'm kinda wonderin' how everything went down the tubes so quick," he mutters, more to himself than anyone else.

It still feels like just yesterday everything was simple. Yesterday they were celebrating. He was standing with Optimus and Ratchet and Wheeljack and ...

... And it just wasn't fair.

But since when did fairness have anything to do with anything? With any aspect of their lives? With any part of the war? He shutters his optics, head bowed.

"I'm fine," he says, at length. "Built for that. Holdin' on thing."
