INTRO LOG - JUNE 2014
Who: Everyone
Where: The Welcome Center
When: 18th June, late afternoon
Summary: The new arrivals, freshly pulled from their worlds or others, awaken in a strange place...
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. NPC responses may be slow.
It's a shuddering breath, a sensation of being pulled to elsewhere and finding oneself pressed against something on the soft and some place cozy. However, before one can fully stir, there is and odd, warm stirring sensation that lifts you up from wherever you've been dropped, when you begin to drift off once more.
Yet the feeling passes quickly, and when you awaken, you begin to realize your surroundings. It's a small room with what some might recognize as a Far Eastern theme when it comes to decor, from the walls to the sofa (or bed) you find yourself on. Illumination is provided by carefully crafted lamps, and even a candle flickering on a nearby desk. The doors are made from paper and wood, with a thin frame; through them it's easy to hear other people stirring, talking, or coming to.
You are not alone...
Close at hand there's a note that reads:
WELCOME CENTER
Newcomers: Please come downstairs to the lobby for refreshments and your welcome packets!
Odd... This wasn't written in your own language, and yet you find it easily understandable. Soon enough, if you don't enter on your own, there's a gentle knocking on the door as someone comes from downstairs to usher you along.
"Welcome to Saeng Seong! I know you must be confused as to where you are and what's going on, but we promise to explain this to you once you've had a chance to stretch your legs!"
Whether you go downstairs immediately or linger a little longer, eventually you must come down and get out of the small space, and sooner rather than later would probably be better. You'll find yourself in a well-lit lobby, filled with comfortable-looking couches and chairs. Along one wall are refreshment tables, loaded with all sorts of cool and relieving food and drink, including some you probably aren't familiar with. It's just as well they're in good supply, as the windows outside show a city well heated from a summer sun.
On the wall opposite are a pair of desks, each with a sign, and one person at her station-
Rhea, General Assistance
Andi, Technological Assistance
The plaques have a shiny new look to them, as do the desks. The one with 'Andi' listed appears to be empty, though. Gathered around both desks and several tables are boxes as well, and...Empty jars? The woman minding her desk doesn't appear to give them a second thought.
However, before you can go over and give at least one of them a piece of your mind and ask questions, the same person who ushered you downstairs hands you a manilla envelope that contains your welcome packet, urging you to read this before asking the two figures questions that the packet likely answers.
Inside it, you will find: a ring with a key and apartment number on it, some kind of cash card, a map and informational guide to the city, and a letter folded neatly on the top -
Outside, and through the translucent glass you can see a banner hanging from the tiled roof of the building across the street. The cheerful colors on it match well against a bright blue sky:

Welcome to Saeng Seong!
You are among a new group of arrivals to our city, from many far-apart worlds.
We have gathered you here because our city is in a crisis, and we are at our last resorts. The energy of the city is in a slow downward spiral, and is dangerously close to expiring altogether.
That's where you come in - you and everyone else we've brought to the city. Unlike those of us here, you have the potential to generate the energy the city needs, but you'll need to work together to do it.
Why? Because the energy can only be generated when two people touch each other. Any touch will do, but it must be between two of you who are new to the city. If you don't keep in contact with someone, eventually your energy will begin to drain as well, making you dangerously ill.
A few other things:
The closed-off sections of the city are closed off for a reason; approaching them will cause your energy to drain very rapidly. We're working to open the rest of the city to you as soon as we can, but for now, please remain within the first five districts of the city.
You have been given a key to a one-bedroom apartment in a complex set aside for you and the other new arrivals, near the riverside in the 1st district. You're free to change your living quarters whenever you like, and we encourage you to move in with someone in one of the larger apartments. When you want to change, just come back to this building to exchange your key.
We've also included a cash card with a living stipend; if you're unfamiliar with this system, or the network established for new arrivals, you can talk to Devin in the lobby for help. It's what he's here for. If you need medical assistance, contact Mai, one of our nurses.
Again, welcome, and thank you for all your help.

There'd probably be more energon if Spinister wasn't hoarding it in the other thread
But enough friendly faces, Krok decides, that they mostly make up for the gap. He knows those fuchsia wings leaned over the refreshment tables; the question is whether or not this is the Misfire he knows or a Misfire from some other point in time. Spinister and Fulcrum were lucky turns; can Krok really be so fortunate as to win out a third time?
"I think most of the energon has been taken already," Krok says conversationally as he approaches. He offers a cube he's been holding and not much else. He might even be smiling, because even though it's Misfire and Misfire is very good at giving him headaches, he's happy to see the jet safe and sound.
FFFFFFFFFFFFF
"There he is my little guy! Isn't he cute and somber!" Actually not as somber as usual. The cube is snatched up and Misfire starts chugging. He's actually a rather neat eater, but mostly because he doesn't want to waste any of it.
"That's our commander Krok, always thinkin' of us." Krok is rewrded with a hard slap on the back.
Best part is Spinister post wasn't up when I wrote that subject line…
Not too much, though. It's hard to not be relieved.
"I'm just glad to see you're all right," he admits. He doesn't say he was worried about them being on their own without him.
ewhjfgdshjf LAUGHS
"Thanks for the snack. You wouldn't happen to have any more would you?" Naturally he has a one track mind.
"Any word on how we're gonna leave? Any DJD here? I guess I can't complain about free room and board but this kind of seems like a scam to me."
no subject
And that actually brings him to how he'll answer the rest of Misfire's opening verbal volley. How the jet will take it all, well. It's a good thing Misfire's still leaning on him like this, because at least it'll help stabilise him from whatever process got them here before he gets all the bad news.
"No DJD as far as I know," Krok begins, and he's openly grateful for that small blessing. There's enough to consider and worry about without having to dodge any of those monsters at the same time. "I've tried to be present every time new arrivals come just to be sure. As for leaving… I'm not sure we can." His expression turns thoughtful as he fidgets some wrapped bit of food in one hand. "I've asked around and looked for myself, and as far as anyone knows, you don't really leave under your own power. Outside the city is a wasteland and you're likely to die before you reach any other signs of civilisation."
no subject
"Rations huh? That sounds limited. I wonder where they keep the stuff. Maybe we could bust it open and have ourselves a little party. So there's really no sign of the W.A.P.? Hmm." No choice but to stick around it seems.
"Well. You wanna take me home then?"
no subject
"When I say rations," he adds, "I mean to say 'enough energon to have your fill daily if you like, and never fear running out'. They're very generous." Almost obscenely so to Krok, who's gone his entire life on much more meagre fare. He makes an exasperated noise. "I'll show you what I mean along the way," he says and gestures for Misfire to follow him.
He's out the door and halfway to the apartment towers before he even thinks to ask.
"…Where were you assigned, anyway?"
no subject
The question gains only slight pause from the constant chatter for him to think.
Krok is answered with a shrug.
"Iunno."
no subject
no subject
"You check."
Wow.
no subject
He sighs and takes the packet, opening it up to read the letter therein, then upturns the envelope and rattles it. Misfire's hab suite key and spending card tumble out into his empty hand.
"Seems they've assigned you to unit 3-01 in the first building," he says, privately relieved that Misfire will be nearby. "You'll be right down the hall."
no subject
"Wowee! So that means I can come visit you any time I like! Lucky mech, you! Why, I'll be over all the time to see how old commander desperado is doing. What would you do with your pal Misfire looking after you? Probably, you'd be so much lamer! Fortunately I'm here to lend you some style."
no subject
"If you're going to show up," he says, "just let me know so I can unlock the door?" True, Misfire would probably rather drop in unannounced, but as often as Krok locks the door – a healthy paranoia, he thinks, with so many Autobots of dubious friendliness on the same floor – he's bound to show up one day and not be able to get in and then Krok will either have a tantrum or Misfire coming in the window to deal with.
no subject
"Hey look, Krok. I'm excited to have my own place and all, but I was thinking that maybe it might be fun for me to stay with you a couple of days. You know. Just in case you need me around."
Right. Because Krok is definitely going to need Misfire. The jet grins and his wing flex back proudly, like this ruse isn't as blatant as it obviously is.
no subject
"You'd be better off with your own quarters," Krok says, but cautiously, watching Misfire's reactions as he speaks. "I've only got the sofa or the floor for you to sleep on." Because his own bed isn't even an option in this matter.
no subject
"You won't even notice I'm there." Unlikely...
no subject
"Well, all right," he says with a too-deep sigh. "I suppose. Let's go get you settled." He'll keep to himself that he's actually happier being able to have an eye on Misfire for now, until the jet can settle in more.
no subject
"Great!" By getting settled, he'll probably just flop down and take a nap. He's got nothing to move in really, no possessions.
no subject
For now, Krok just unlocks his own door and steps inside.
no subject
"Wow!" He says with a sense of finality, turning to Krok and nodding.
"Way nicer than the W.A.P."
no subject
"Quite a lot nicer," he agrees. "I'm sure yours isn't much different, when you want to look at it. In the meantime, make yourself comfortable. Still hungry?"
