The Promise

Where: The Shrine... and possibly her residence if they stalked her home on the rare occassion she actually went to head to bed.
When: August 1st to the 11th
Summary: Rangar made their presence known to the Guests, the scientists are trying to cover it up to maintain order, and there is a priestess who is apparently trusted by the leader who has no knowledge of the incident. This needs to be remedied.

[The man stays as calm as ever once he's spotted, hardly moving an inch. He does, however, incline his head slightly to acknowledge the priestess, watching her from where he sits. He doesn't entirely mean to be intimidating; it's just kind of what he does. At least he's not armed, and Rhea is of course welcome to turn on the lights to make the conversation a little less ominous...

He doesn't consider the aborted question worth answering, instead deciding to get straight to the point. Given that he knows the woman wasn't expecting him, he takes the liberty to speak about it without being asked.]

The Rangar accessed the network two nights ago.

[Rhea doesn't move to flip a switch. Instead she waves a hand, eyes glowing faintly as she does so, and purification candles placed around the room light up. There. Not as ominous, but low enough not to draw too much attention this late at night.]

The Rangar?

[So that's what this and that network entry was about. After all, slander against the scientist was a serious crime to most in this city. However as a learned woman of faith, she cannot help but be suspicious of anything regarding what they considered it slander.]

It has been half a century since I've heard that name. What word do they send?

[Although the method Rhea uses to light the room is unfamiliar to him, he trusts that she isn't someone he has to worry about as far as violence, so he remains still.

Thanks to his thorough combing of everything open on the post before it was deleted, he's memorized enough information to get at least a partial picture of what's going on.]

They're looking for secrets the scientists are hiding. What they're using the energy for. Zeloph said you could be trusted.

[The moment he mentions secrets, she makes a hand motion not unlike a jitsu form and all electronic devices not vital to survival or attached to someone's form are suddenly shut down or short circuited. Were there any bugs in the apartment, they are now decimated.]

Something I've been curious about as well, in other words. [She takes a seat, running a hand through her hair as she thinks.] I'm afraid like most local residents I missed the broadcast before it was removed, so you'll have to fill me in. What can I do for you, Mr. Barnes?

[The use of his name makes him pause longer than he intends, not used to being bargained with as a person instead of ordered as a weapon. But it doesn't take him long to regain his focus.]

He said if they got what they wanted and stopped the scientists, you would help us return with all our memories.

[He's in no real rush to do so, as long as the guarantee is there; returning means being sought out by HYDRA again, after all.]

They plan to expose the scientists before making any more moves. Tell me how to find what they're hiding.

[Does he seem... almost eager? ... Naah...]

[She nods faintly, listening.] Yes. It is in my power to do so, and I want nothing more than to do so.

[Even if it means breaking old bonds in order to do so.]

Their lab is in a closed off district and deep underground. Far as I know, there is still a crater on the site from when the Unleashing occurred. Going above ground would not be the best option in that regard. Your best bet is to find a hacker to try to dig nad locate secret entrances they use and go from there.

[Little wonder why they've been so hard to find, then; they'd holed up where none could approach without collapsing. It will make things difficult, but not impossible.

He doesn't like working with people he doesn't trust, but... there may be others already interested or ones he can convince to assist him. Especially if he's going to be doing the legwork. And for when that happens...]

He said Cyntia and her assistant have special abilities. [Best to confirm what he'll be going up against if it comes down to it.]

They do. [Though how this person knows that, she isn't entirely sure. Unless... Dare she hope again?] Cyntia...

[Her face nearly goes pale as her hair trying to even say it. Shaking if off to the best of her ability, she continues with what's the more important warning.]

...Your biggest concern would be her assistant. I can't... quite recall his name, but he has a penchant for magnetism and metal manipulation. I would not cross him with that arm of yours. [A small bit of irritation may come through there, and a bit of hesitation.] Her assistant is the one who leads me there once a month. Otherwise I would suggest attempting to follow us through.

[The way she trails off and the look of faint horror on her face is not lost on the soldier, and he has to wonder what it is about that woman that has Rhea scared. But if the priestess says he has to worry most about the assistant, and refuses to say anything about the one in charge, he has to assume she's telling the truth.

But if she's led there each month and yet can't tell him where the entrance is...]

They cover your eyes when they lead you there?

They do, yes.

[The fact they feel the need to do so makes it pretty obviously suspicious. They likely have a lot to hide.]

I can follow. Not inside, but to the entrance.

[If he just watches from a distance, he imagines it will be fine. He can always return at a later time; he's not exactly bad at getting through doors, whatever kind they are.]

[Rhea nods once. That is an idea...]

Be sure you're not seen.

[He inclines his head slowly in half of a nod. Not being detected is one of his specialties, and he's all too willing to use his skills.]

The fourteenth at nightfall, near the pond in the fourth district.

[That seems to be all he needs for now, so he starts to get to his feet. He'll stop if Rhea has anything else to say, but if not, it's time to leave.]
