A night out! [OPEN]

Who: Pilouette and You!
Where: District 5 and later, the Guest Apartments.
When: Evening of October 9th and into the night
Summary: Pilouette decides to break from her usual schedule and have a night out. It doesn't go as smoothly as she would hope.
Warnings: None as of posting. Maybe some awkwardness?

Though she's been living on her own in Saeng Seong for over a year, Pilouette has been sticking more or less to the same general schedule she had back home: Get up early, do whatever she was doing during the day — usually work in this case, rather than school — then come home and be in bed by 10.

However, since turning seventeen the month before, she had been thinking about something. Why was she still following that schedule? After all, she's been living without any kind of actual adult supervision for a while. Really, she could do whatever she wanted. Plus, she's a year older, even closer to being an adult than she was before! Plus, seeing as was given the next day off...Pilouette decides to have a night out. Even with the warning the previous week, she figures she'll be fine. After all, Ren said those people were headed towards a closed district. As long as she doesn't spend too much time near those she'll be fine. Probably.

After work she dresses up, just a little bit, to make herself feel a little more grown up before heading out to District 5. She's still a little nervous and she might not notice if something, like her cellphone or wallet, fell out of her purse on the way.

Before long, she gets to the theater having decided to see a movie. However, she's having trouble deciding what to see. She's pretty bad with scary movies, but...well, since she's older now, maybe she can handle it. After all, it's just a movie. However, she could also see one of any number of other movies that won't scare her to death.

After it's all over, Pilouette walks back to District 2 and up to her own apartment, 3-03 in Building 2. She stands there for a moment, rummaging through her purse for a moment, looking for her key. When she doesn't find it she begins to backtrack to look for it. It's not until she's been searching the first floor for a while when it hits her. It's on her table. Inside her apartment. She's locked herself out. Great.

After a few moments of being generally annoyed and upset at herself, she thinks about what her options are. She doesn't want to bother anyone at such a late hour and she can't just mill about all night. So, Pilouette makes her way back up to the third floor and, settling down on a couch in the third floor's lounge area, buys some coffee from a vending machine. She comes to find that she doesn't actually like coffee very much. At all. It's so bitter and gross. However she wants to try and stay awake so she can see about possibly getting another key or something to get back into her apartment bright and early. However, it doesn't work out very well and she ends up falling asleep.

...It's probably not the best place for it.

Blades nods enthusiastically. "Friends share snacks! But since I can't eat any, you get my share of the snacks, too."

He beams at her. "Plus, since you're buying my ticket it only seems polite to get you something."

"Okay!" Blades heads for the concessions counter, then looks back. "Are you sure you don't want a drink?"

Popcorn and a drink are the traditional movie snacks, right? And sometimes hot dogs or nachos! And candy. Sometimes Blades wishes he could eat like a human. They sure seem to have a lot of fun with different foods!

"Oh no! Missing parts of a movie is terrible!" He's not being sarcastic at all. He gets honestly upset about missing parts of a movie. He doesn't quite get why a drink is related to missing parts of a movie - he prefers not to think about human bodily functions and tends to forget about them - but if Pilouette says it is, he'll take her word for it!

"Just popcorn it is!" He proceeds to order the largest size of popcorn there is, because just because she couldn't finish an oversized movie drink doesn't mean Pilouette couldn't finish oversized movie food, right?

"Me too!" He follows after Pilouette, carrying the massive popcorn bucket for her. "Sometimes I need more company than just Buddy, you know?"

His voice drops to a stage whisper. "But don't tell her I said that!"

It would hurt her birdy feelings.

Entering the room, he eyes the rather human-sized seats filling it. Maybe he can squeeze into one? And not crush it? There are moments he wishes he could be a human, just for a little bit. And then he remembers things like sneezing. Gross!

"Oh no! I couldn't possibly make you stand up through a whole movie!" He looks thoughtful as he contemplates his own solution. Deep thoughts, man.

"How about you sit in the back row, and I can kneel on the floor behind the back row?"
swivelrotors: That moment when your hero-crush wants a picture with just you! (SO HAPPY)

"It's fine!" Blades says. "You're not supposed to work when you're having fun. Besides, I'm made of harder stuff than the floor, so it's actually pretty comfy!"

"Perfect!" When Pilouette settles down, Blades hands over the popcorn then settles in the aisle, curing his arms around his knees.

"Let's get this movie started!"

Blades hunches up in rapt delight as the spooky title runs away with the rain that starts spattering against the camera. It looks like this movie starts on a dark and stormy night.

Lightning flashes, lighting up a large concrete facility of some sort, helpfully labelled SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTE.

Inside the building a group of people in lab coats stand in front of large circular portal device of some sort - because portal devices are always large and circular - while one of them makes a speech.

"Today, we make the greatest achievement since man first walked in space. Today we make the first steps into... the place beyond space!"

Blades gasps.

"This is all going to go terribly wrong," Blades says in a loud whisper. If movies and living in Griffin Rock have taught him anything it's that while science can be helpful, it also has a strong penchant for going terribly, terribly wrong.

Sure enough, shortly after he speaks a lightning bolt hits the SCIENTIFIC INSTITUTE and suddenly the portal machine goes haywire! Flashing lights! Screaming! One of the scientists yelling "Shut it down!"

And then... then! Someone screams, "Something's coming through the machine!"

The music swells to a screeching crescendo of horror.

Blades nods proudly. He did totally call it! But then he's clutching the sides of his face and gasping as the creature plods slowly towards scientists who are apparently too afraid to actually run away.

He squeals, "It's the thing from the place beyond space, run!"

The people in the movie don't take his advice. Instead, the main scientist simply stands and says, "What have we done?" as a single tear runs down his cheek.
swivelrotors: Processors rebooting, please stand by (shame)

Suddenly the thing is upon the scientists! Blades covers his face, but he doesn't really need to as all the horror happens off-screen or mostly hidden in the shroud of fog. There is, however, lots and lots of screaming. Whether or not it sounds authentic varies greatly from actor to actor.

As the screaming fades, there's a shot of a pair of glasses and a slowly spreading pool of what is probably meant to be blood, but looks an awful lot like hot sauce.

Blades peeks through his fingers. "Is it over?"

"Gross!" Blades whines. "Why do humans never accidentally summon something friendly?"

The movie fades out on the grisly scene... and fades in on flashing police lights! They're not at the scene of the crime, no, they're in high-speed pursuit of a figure on a motorcycle. The camera pans over the back of the figure's jacket, helpfully emblazoned with the words 'BAD BOY'. Then it's up to his helmetless head, wearing a pair of cool shades and his long, lustrous black hair whipping about in the wind.

Could handsome chap be the movie's protagonist? Signs point to yes.

The chase comes to an end when the bad boy uses some garbage conveniently shaped like a ramp to vault over a fence, leaving the police car to crash into it instead.

Blades laughs. "If Chase were here, he'd be naming all the laws that guy just broke!"

Sorry about the slow reply! Rough week

Bad Boy surveys his work with the cops cars then, with a dramatic hair-flip, drives off. His journey comes to an end at a small convenience store, that he proceeds to swagger into to have a conversation with the pretty cashier lady, who's busy worrying over a news report on the nearby TV.

It seems there's been a streak of mysterious disappearances in the area!

Blades gives a little gasp. "I bet those are because of the Thing!"
