Flight of dragons
Who: Professor Oak and Diarmuid
Where: The Park
When: November 18
Summary: Diarmuid was promised a ride from Dragonite.
Warnings: None that I can think of!
Sam had arrived at the park well before the meeting time -- as an adult, it was his responsibility not to keep a child waiting alone. While he waited on the bench, Dragonite flapped here and there, stretching its wings -- until it paused, landing and pointing with a "Hroo!" to get its trainer's attention.
"Hmm? What is it, Dragonite?" He followed Dragonite's arm with his gaze until he saw a familiar figure making its way toward him. "Aha!" Sam stood and waved, with Dragonite imitating his gesture. "Diarmuid, over here!"

"Go, Dragonite, go! Fly fast!"
no subject
Soon, though, Dragonite slows to a stop, hovering well above the pond. It croons, indicating that it's arrived at the destination. Meanwhile, Sam leans to one side of Dragonite, then the other, looking around at the ground.
"Well, here we are."
no subject
"It looks so different from up high. I think I can see all the way to the bottom! And over there it might be starting to freeze a little!" Okay, so maybe it's not that cold yet, but soon enough the pond will freeze and Diarmuid can't help but wonder how different it will look from above once it is frozen.
"Does it bother Dragonite to fly when it is cold?"
no subject
"Not cold like this, anyway. It would have to be well below zero to bother Dragonite." Dragonite may a double weakness to ice-type attacks, but Pokemon attacks and simple weather are two completely different things.
"Dragonite doesn't feel that warm because their hide is a good insulator. When we land, you can feel Dragonite's breath and see how warm it is." If Dragonite is alright with that, anyway.
no subject
"Is there a certain amount of time that Dragonite can fly?" Diarmuid turns to Professor Oak. "We can land if Dragonite's getting tired!' Plus, he kind of does want to test the dragon's breath as Professor Oak has suggested. He wants to know everything about pokemon that he can learn. They are such wonderful partners!
no subject
"How are you feeling, Dragonite?" Dragonite gives an affirmative grunt; it's not bothered. "Dragonite seems fine -- did you want to land now?" This was all for Diarmuid's sake, after all, so if he wants to go back, they will.

And feel the wind moving around them. It's so freeing and such a good distraction from everything that is going on in the city right now.
no subject
"Alright. Dragonite, can you just fly in a few big circles?" Dragonite nods, and sets off again.
no subject
It apparently happens to small pokemon too, because down in Dragonite's arms Lir doesn't even try to hide the small sound he makes that seems suspiciously like a yawn...
no subject
"Are you alright, Diarmuid? It wouldn't do to fall asleep up here, you know." He looks ahead at where Dragonite is carrying the smaller Pokemon. "Your Horsea seems pretty tired too. Is it time to land?"
They have been flying around for a while, haven't they? To be honest, his legs are also getting a bit tired and ache-y from gripping Dragonite's sides, so he imagines it's taking his toll on Diarmuid too.
no subject
"If Lir is tired, we should probably land for now. Can we fly again sometime? This was a lot of fun and I..." Oops, there he goes yawning. So much for not admitting he is tired, "I really would like to do this again!"
no subject
Dragonite obeys right away, slowly spiraling down so as not to risk letting its passengers slip off the front.
no subject
Plus...he wouldn't mind dreaming about this until the next time they go flying comes up.
no subject
"All ashore," Sam jokes, withdrawing his arm from Diarmuid's waist. He'll wait a moment to see if Diarmuid wants to try getting off first, otherwise he'll give him a hand.
no subject
"You are wonderful, Dragonite! Thank you so much!"

At Diarmuid's command, Lir makes a happy trumpeting sound and then blows a few harmless bubbles at them, "This was so much fun. Do you want to come back to my apartment? I will make something to eat and drink for you!"
It's the least he can do to thank them.
no subject
"I was just about to offer to walk you home, actually, so that's fine. You don't have to make anything, though."
no subject
Lir trumpets his agreement. It looks like there is no getting out of it, Professor.

"Okay! We can see when we get back," he smiles at Professor Oak and Dragonite and then turns to lead the way toward his apartment. "This way! We will be back in no time!"
As long as he doesn't run out of energy anyway...

"Do you think I should put Lir into his Pokeball more often? I don't think I have ever used it, but Lir doesn't do things like take people on rides either..."

"We can try when we get back to the apartment," Diarmuid laughs. "If I am not too tired!"
(no subject)
Do we want to end with them heading back?
Sure, that's fine :)
