December Intro Log
Who: Everyone
Where: The Welcome Center
When: 12th December, early afternoon
Summary: The new arrivals, freshly pulled from their worlds or others, awaken in a strange place...
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. NPC responses may be slow.
It's a shuddering breath, a sensation of being pulled to elsewhere and finding oneself pressed against something on the soft and some place cozy. However, before one can fully stir, there is and odd, warm stirring sensation that lifts you up from wherever you've been dropped, when you begin to drift off once more.
'I'm sorry for this... but we need your help.'
Yet the feeling -and the voice - pass quickly, and when you awaken, you begin to realize your surroundings. It's a small room with what some might recognize as something akin to a Far Eastern theme when it comes to decor, from the walls to the sofa (or bed) you find yourself on. Illumination is provided by carefully crafted lamps, and even a red candle flickering on a nearby desk. The doors are made from paper and wood, with a thin frame; through them it's easy to hear other people stirring, talking, or coming to.
You are not alone...
On a small table beside you, there rests a note atop a manilla envelope (that oddly enough is enscribed with your name). Unfolding the note will reveal some answers in the form of a letter addressed to all arrivals.
Inside the manilla envelope , you will find: a ring with a key and apartment number on it, some kind of cash card, a map and informational guide to the city, and a second letter folded neatly on the top.
Odd... Neither were written in your own language, and yet you find it easily understandable. Soon enough, if you don't make an exit on your own, there's a gentle knocking on the door as someone comes from downstairs to usher you along.
"Welcome to Saeng Seong! I know you must be confused or upset as to what's going on, but we promise to explain further once you've had a chance to stretch your legs!"
Whether you go downstairs immediately or linger a little longer, eventually you must come on down to leave the small space, and sooner rather than later would probably be better. You'll find yourself in a well-lit lobby, filled with comfortable-looking couches and chairs. Along one wall are refreshment tables, loaded with all sorts of warm and filling food and drink, including some you probably aren't familiar with. It's just as well they're in good supply, as the windows to the outdoors show skies in an overcast condition, with a very noticible chill in the air once one steps outside.
On the wall opposite are a pair of desks, each with a sign.
Irene, General Assistance
Andi, Technological Assistance
???
The plaques have a polished look to them, as do the desks. Even though there only seem to be a handful of newcomers this time, both lovely ladies seem eager to assist you, though one more.... self-contained than the one bouncing in their seat with anticipation. The chill is probably why there is a rack full of winter wear in all shapes in sizes by the desks, labeled "FREE MATRIARCH/WINTER CLOTHING (stay warm this season of giving!)."
Outside, and through the translucent glass you can see a banner hanging from the tiled roof of the building across the street. The deep autumnal colors on it match the welcoming atmosphere as the letters proclaim:
WELCOME TO SAENG SEONG
(ENJOY YOUR STAY!)

"So those are clothes," he discerns from the... person's response. "But how do the eyes and mouth move?"
The tears are even more baffling, though. Even putting aside the mechanics behind it, why would it need to cry?
no subject
"How rude! I'm right here, ya know! I can HEAR you!"
He waves his fist in the air as he stomps his squeaky little feet. Truly a beast to be reckoned with.
"And this is my fuzzy fur, thank you bear-y much! Not just some run of the mill clothing you can pick up anywhere all willy-nilly."
teddie's squeaky footsteps are the best thing to imagine in any thread
"I was asking," he says, looking a little chided. "I've never seen something like it. You human under it?"
For the size, he would guess it was a kid. But maybe he's a robot? He doesn't really know what to expect these days.
marvel in awe at his majestic squeaking
He takes this time to finally start zipping up his neck. Some people, am I right?
"And who the heck told you about my human body?! Did... did you sneak a peek already?! I knew I had animalistic charms and a smokin' hot bod, but this is a little too much to bear right now..."
incredible
He'll have to ask Steve later. He just remains quiet as Teddie talks, trying to process it into something that's more logical.
"I didn't see anything," he explains, and "How can you be a bear and have a human body?" is the first question that seems important enough to ask, though he has several others that are begging to be answered.
no subject
"Oh that's easy, I'm all sorts of things! I'm also a dashing prince, or when I really feel like it, a king. But wait, there's more! Not only a king, but a fearsome knight in fuzzy armor! Oh! OH! And sometimes, I'm a beautiful girl~ It really depends on my mood."
There, surely that must've explained everything, Teddie certainly seems to think so as he nods to himself in approval. Although it doesn't seem to explain anything about this mysterious grabby stranger.
"Now who the heck are you?"
no subject
He's still in the process of thinking this when Teddie asks him a question, so it takes a few moments before it actually reaches his brain.
"Um," he says very elegantly, "... James."
Because what else can he do except answer the question at this point?
no subject
He will grind that into the ground, or so help him. James might as well be worse than Kanji, at least then Kanji simply wanted to pet him. ...Like a weirdo.
"Now that that's outta the way, like I said bearfore, I'm a lost lonely boy. And seeing as you're the only one talking to me, and even though you're kinda weird, we're now friends and you should help your pal out. Starting...now!"
And so he just stands there. Waiting.
no subject
The fact that they're now suddenly friends is a little unusual as well, but he's not going to look a gift bear in the mouth. Plus, he doesn't mind helping.
"Did you see the letters in that envelope?" he asks, scratching at the side of his neck with his metal hand. "They explain what's going on here. Sort of."
no subject
Blinking, he takes this time to do some mental backtracking. Now that he thinks about it, he did grab an envelope before stumbling into the lobby. Was that thing actually important? Who would've thunk?! In that case, he slips one of those big blue paws past his zipper and, erm, digs within himself. Just like that, he pulls said envelope out like it's absolutely nothing. Hold your applause.
"This thing right here? I was hoping it was filled with snacks..."
no subject
He nods over to the tables against the wall at the mention of snacks.
"There's food over there. The envelope has information on the city and a key to your apartment."
no subject
"Hold this for me, would ya?" he beams as he begins to waddle over towards the snack table, squeaking the whole way there. It doesn't take long at all for him to grab a plate and start stacking it with as many sweet things - or things that at least look sweet - he can find. Hopefully no one else wanted any of that...
no subject
He shakes his head to dismiss the question, fairly certain he'll never get it answered, and picks out a few snacks himself--just a couple of small sandwiches--and munches on them before starting to open the envelope he's holding in his gloved artificial hand. Might as well help Teddie out--it looks like he might have his hands full for a while.
no subject
"Oh man, this is great," he says to no one in particular despite that there's someone RIGHT THERE. "I can't even remember why I was so upset earlier. I probearly fell over or something..."
It's only a matter of time until he actually remembers again, but food is soooo good right now. And it's free.
no subject
The bear's remarks make him look up halfway through, though, and Bucky wonders how he could have forgotten so quickly. Even more to add to the list of weird things about this person...
"You said you were lost."
no subject
Sniffling, so much sniffling. What even is an envelope?
no subject
... really, he would have expected to have more difficulty than he did. It's not just him trying to cheer Teddie up; he just thinks it's true. If it keeps the pseudo-bear from crying, even better.

"I don't think they'll be here," he says very optimistically, "but I'll help look."
He feels that he's been pretty fortunate to find the one person he does know; most of everyone else, besides the robots, don't appear to know each other from their worlds.
