February Intro Log!

Who: Everyone
Where: The Welcome Center
When: 12th February, early afternoon
Summary: The new arrivals, freshly pulled from their worlds or others, awaken in a strange place...
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. NPC responses may be slow.

It's a shuddering breath, a sensation of being pulled to elsewhere and finding oneself pressed against something on the soft and some place cozy. However, before one can fully stir, there is and odd, warm stirring sensation that lifts you up from wherever you've been dropped, when you begin to drift off once more.

'I'm sorry for this... but we need your help.'

Yet the feeling -and the voice - pass quickly, and when you awaken, you begin to realize your surroundings. It's a small room with what some might recognize as something akin to a Far Eastern theme when it comes to decor, from the walls to the sofa (or bed) you find yourself on. Illumination is provided by carefully crafted lamps, and even a red candle flickering on a nearby desk. The doors are made from paper and wood, with a thin frame; through them it's easy to hear other people stirring, talking, or coming to.

You are not alone...

On a small table beside you, there rests a note atop a manilla envelope (that oddly enough is enscribed with your name). Unfolding the note will reveal some answers in the form of a letter addressed to all arrivals.

Inside the manilla envelope , you will find: a ring with a key and apartment number on it, some kind of cash card, a map and informational guide to the city, and a second letter folded neatly on the top.

Odd... Neither were written in your own language, and yet you find it easily understandable. Soon enough, if you don't make an exit on your own, there's a gentle knocking on the door as someone comes from downstairs to usher you along.

"Welcome to Saeng Seong! I know you must be confused or upset as to what's going on, but we promise to explain further once you've had a chance to stretch your legs!"

Whether you go downstairs immediately or linger a little longer, eventually you must come on down to leave the small space, and sooner rather than later would probably be better. You'll find yourself in a well-lit lobby, filled with comfortable-looking couches and chairs. Along one wall are refreshment tables, loaded with all sorts of warm and filling food and drink, including some you probably aren't familiar with. It's just as well they're in good supply, as rain is pouring outside with no sign of relenting. During this time of the year, it's definitely something to leave a chill in the bones. Perhaps picking up a rain coat by the desks on the other side of the room might be a good idea. Who knows? You may just find something suspiciously in your size!

Speaking of those desks, two ladies seem eager to answer any questions you may have, names and positions conveniently written on signs on their desk.

Irene, General Assistance
Andi, Technological Assistance

Outside, and through the heavy rain and translucent glass you can see a banner hanging from the tiled roof of the building across the street. The deep autumnal colors on it match the welcoming (though rather damp) atmosphere as the letters proclaim:

WELCOME TO SAENG SEONG
(ENJOY YOUR STAY!)

"It's okay Baymax." He said at the apology, giving his friend a brief squeeze. Though what the robot said confused him and he frowned slightly.

"Not by choice?" He asked, voice quiet. "That last I saw of you we were in the portal. When...When I heard from someone that you were here I figured that due to some quantum physics miracle you ended up here." He shook his head slightly, mind racing. "It hadn't been that long since it happened. I started going to school full time" To try and get a sense of normalcy and keep busy- "...and then next thing you know I'm here." He gestured with his hand away from his head like a mini explosion.

"I'm still kind of trying to process the whole yanked into another dimension thing..."

Baymax blinked, for lack of any other facial expression options. It seemed that Hiro was going to have something else to process. "I believe we are experiencing a temporal anomaly," Baymax said. "You seem to have been brought here from a time several months prior to me. Such things sometimes occur here."

"You discovered the chip I had left for you in my gauntlet," Baymax continued. "You then rebuilt my body according to Tadashi's specifications and reinstalled it. I have been living with you and Aunt Cass for several months." He can provide video footage if you need proof, Hiro.

Hiro's eyes widened, and he raised both hands to run through his hair and grasp his head with a brief 'haha!' of a grin.

"Shut...up! Your gauntlet??" Baymax must have somehow grabbed his own chip before blasting Hiro back out of the portal, knowing that he would find it eventually and rebuild him. "Yeah I'm discovering this place is kind of temporally weird....oh man." He let out another laugh, clearly excited that Baymax wasn't going to be lost forever, even when going back home.

"Where are they keeping you? They actually gave me keys to an apartment..."

"I told you I would always be with you," Baymax replied. And it might be Hiro's imagination, but did that modulated voice sound the tiniest bit amused? Yeah probly Hiro's imagination. "It was not just an expression."

"I also have an apartment," Baymax said. Although one would hardly recognize it as even being lived in, really. Just Baymax's charging station plugged into one wall socket and some first aid supplies neatly arranged on the counter top. "Building 2, Floor 3, Apartment 13."

Hiro grinned again at that. Imagination or not, he had to at Baymax's try at humor. He had thought he'd never be with his friend again and well...here they were!

"I'm glad Baymax." He said honestly. "I'm glad I didn't lose you." He frowned in thought when Baymax told him what apartment he was in.

"Hm...I'm in Building two, floor 3....hey wait! I think I'm next door! Might as well be room mates right?" He would have suggested that even if they had been in different areas. It only made sense.

"I would like that," Baymax said when Hiro suggested being roommates. "There are larger apartments designed for multiple occupancy, but I do not require a room for myself, so moving to one of them would be somewhat excessive. Which of our apartments would you like to share?"

Hiro shrugged as he thought about it. "I guess I can just stay at yours." He said finally. "I haven't even been over to see the apartments yet." He probably had to go find someone to switch over his key at some point then. "I don't have much. Just what's in my backpack."

He couldn't help but think, that if this place was temporally wonky - would it be possible that someday...maybe even Tadashi could walk down those stairs when a new wave of people arrived. The thought caused his heart to both pound and chest to constrict at the same time. He couldn't think on it for long, afraid to get too hopeful....

But wow...wouldn't that be amazing.

"I also do not have much," Baymax said. "All basic requirements for human health and well being, such as food, clothing, and hygiene products can be purchased at shops in the city, though."

Baymax would be lying if he said that that particular possibility hadn't crossed his processors too. But as it was statistically somewhat unlikely, he didn't mention it to Hiro. No sense causing him any distress in the future if it didn't happen.

"Would you like me to show you to where you can exchange apartment keys?", Baymax asked. Because he'd scanned a map of the building and knew right where everything was.

Well, that was a relief. He had no extra clothes, food or anything with him. "I had gotten a card for funds with my keys. I wonder if people have to get jobs here..." He couldn't imagine the powers that be just giving money to people that were brought here. He had helped out at his Aunt's cafe now and again, but he'd never actually had a job before.

At the offer to show him where he could exchange apartment keys, Hiro nodded. "Yeah sure, that sounds great." In truth, he was kind of exhausted. The initial shock of suddenly being here was wearing off and now it was just a matter of trying to process everything. He had no idea if it was because of that, or because he needed to touch people.

And maybe wrap this one in another tag or two?

"'Guests' can get jobs if they wish to," Baymax said. "A living stipend is provided, though, so it is not necessary. Also, I am unaware of the local labor laws regarding minors, so it would be prudent to research them before inquiring about employment." Because you might be a genius and a super hero, Hiro, but you're still 14.

And Baymax has noticed Hiro's fatigue, considering it to likely be a combination of both factors that Hiro is considering. Thus, as they set off to get Hiro's key exchanged, Baymax rested a hand lightly on Hiro's shoulder, partly to guide him and partly for the contact.

Sounds good :)

"Huh..." Hiro uttered before smirking. "It's not as if I'm raring to work 9-5 or anything whether I'm allowed or not.." He shrugged. "If they are actually paying us to be able to live here than I guess I don't have to worry about it." Besides, he had to figure out what to do to fill in the time. Frankly, he wanted to be back at the institute, working in his brother's lab. Even though it was his now, he still considered it Tadashi's.

He hoped that this place had some decent facilities to be able to indulge. Tony came to mind, and he made a mental note to look him up. The AI phone he had given him was still in his hoodie pocket. He still couldn't believe he had given it to him.

He reached up, scrubbing at his eyes a little, fighting back a yawn. At first he wasn't sure if he'd be able to sleep under the circumstances and so as a result be stuck in that too tired but can't sleep state. He was starting to figure that he wouldn't have a problem at this point.

When they left to get his keys exchanged, he didn't protest when Baymax kept a hand on his shoulder. He was still so happy to be reunited with his friend that he didn't mind. He figured that as soon as he got back to their apartment he'd probably crash.

Be prepared to probably be a huge body pillow Baymax!
