Where: The Chocobo Barn and the Guest Apartments
When: Backdated to the 19th
What: Flood event! Kit will be trying to get the Chocobos to safety on higher ground, then trying to save the books in Building 2's 1st floor library by getting them to higher floors. Help will be needed in both places.
Warnings: Flood related dangers maybe?

Chocobo Barn

The chocobos were agitated, squawking at one another and pawing the ground in their stalls. The flood hadn't yet penetrated their barn, but it soon would, and they could smell the rising water outside and sense danger.

Kit hurried to get Salali harnessed. "Easy girl," she murmured, petting her chocobo's head to soothe her. "It'll be alright. I know you don't like going out in the rain, but we have to. It's not safe to stay here. We've gotta get you and the other to higher ground."

Though even as she cinched up Salali's harness, Kit wondered how she was going to do that. Salali was used to her, so Kit could handle her easily despite her nervous state. But the other chocobos wouldn't be so easy to handle, especially for someone as small as herself. She could probably handle them, but only one at a time. And getting them to accept her hand to get them harnessed and lead them out would take time. Too much time. No way she'd be able to get even half of them to safety on her own before the flood waters closed in...

Guest Apartments

Kit leaned against the wall tiredly. That was the fifth box of books she'd brought up, and she'd barely cleared one shelf. The flood waters would soon reach the apartments, and when they did, not only would the people be in trouble, but the books in the library on the first floor would all be ruined. She recognized that the safety of people was more important, but still, all those books, all those stories and all that knowledge lost... she couldn't allow it! Not even if she had to haul everything to the upper floors herself.

So once she'd caught her breath she headed back down for another load. She had to get as many books upstairs as she could before the elevators stopped working. If they did, this was going to get a lot harder...

"Still, you probably did a lot before anyone else showed up to help, right?"

Pilouette looks around before standing up herself. The room is getting pretty full and Kit's right; putting them in the hall would be too dangerous.

"If I didn't think the water would reach the third floor, I'd say we could put some in there, but...well, we can't be sure," she says. After all, the second floor isn't exactly high up. The water hasn't reached the apartments yet and when it does no one can be sure just how bad it will be. Besides, since most of the apartments are vacant anyway, it's not like anyone will mind them stashing the books somewhere else.

"I, um, guess we'll have to get into one of the other apartments, then! Since you got into this one, it shouldn't be a problem, huh?" Pilouette asks, again choosing not to mention that broken lock. She feels like they should ask one of the people in charge for a key, but there just isn't time. She hopes they won't be mad.

"I did some yeah," Kit says. "Plus some friends and I helped get the chocobos someplace safe before I started this. So I've been really busy."

Kit nods. "Yeah. Gotta be sure to put them somewhere where we know the water won't reach. Or at least, if it reaches that high, nobody's gonna be worried about books."

"But yeah," she says. "I don't like having to break the locks, but it is an emergency. And I'll help pay to have them fixed later if anybody gets mad."

"Well, if they do get mad, I'll pitch in to help you pay for any repairs! After all, the price of a couple locks is like, nothing compared to the cost of replacing all these books, right? I mean, I bet a lot of these can't even be replaced..."

Besides, Pilouette feels like it would be a little unfair to make Kit pay for any repairs alone, especially when she had started saving a valuable resource that everyone used all the time. Pilouette takes a deep breath, standing up just a little straighter with her now empty box as she starts out to head out the door of the apartment.

"Guess we'd better head back down. No time to waste, right?"

"I know," Kit said. "But grown-ups can be weird about that sort of thing sometimes, so you never know. And thanks." Pilouette's logic was also Kit's logic; much lesser of two evils and all that. But as Kit had said, one never knew with grown ups.

Kit nodded as Pilouette suggested heading back down. "Right," she said. "we've got a lot more books tobring up." Readjusting her box on the rolling chair, she headed back towards the elevator, trusting that Pilouette would follow.

Pilouette indeed follows Kit, eager to grab some more books. She can understand what Kit means about adults. As much as she wanted to be an adult, she had to admit that sometimes they didn't always seem to understand why things were important.

"Still, I'm sure lots of people will be really happy once they see that we've managed to save some of the books," she says. "I don't think anyone can pretend that doesn't matter more than a busted lock or two."

And this should be it, unless you want to do one ore. :)

"Me neither," Kit says. "That's why I did it. I want to save as many of the stories as I can. That way they'll be there for other people to read later."

Once they're both back in the elevator, Kit hits the button for the ground floor. Down they go, off to save some more stories.
