Pokémon Palooza!
Who: PokéSpecials (Gold, Silver, and Crystal), their new juniors (Naoto, Yuna, and Diarmuid), and a bunch of Pokémon.
Where: The wide park area of District 4, specifically by the lakeside.
When: April 12th, mid-morning
Summary: It's probably time for the new Pokémon trainers to understand exactly what they're getting into. Aka: A bunch of Pokémon trainersenpai seniors get to help out their kouhai juniors. A lot of Pokémon fun, probably! (Is Pokémon even a real word anymore.)
Warnings: Probably a lot of cute stuff and intense fussing, because that's what trainers from Johto absolutely do best. Also some responses will be slow (from me at least) -- feel free to threadjack where needed, seniors, since everyone's going to be in the same general area.
Crystal'd delivered the eggs to their respective trainers (Paras to Naoto, Horsea to Diarmuid, Totodile to Yuna) late last night, since they'd been on the edge of hatching, along with a request for them to meet up at the lake in District 4 -- as it was both fairly close and big enough for a big Pokémon gathering.
Luckily, it's a pretty nice day outside (or, well, it isn't threatening to rain -- that counts!) on the day they've decided to convene at the lake. The Pokémon are enjoying the pleasant spring weather too, though a few have opted to take to the water (Kingdra especially) instead of sitting out on the bank with their trainers.
It's just time to wait for the three new trainers to arrive with their baby Pokémon so things can get underway...
[ooc: phew! prose and brackets are both welcome, just use whatever you're most comfortable with.
also: the juniors should at least each make their own open thread for other juniors as well as GSC kids to reply to when they'd like. pokémon is all about forming bonds with people and pokémon alike -- let's keep the spirit going!]

Whatever it is, it doesn't seem to keep Diarmuid away from the edge of the lake. In fact, he heads in a straight line for the shore, crouching nearby to let his Horsea into the water. At first, he had been a little worried if the water might be too cold, but since Kingdra is already swimming around in the lake, it can't be too bad.
He stays nearby, though, carefully watching his new friend with big smile on his face. Eventually, he settles down to sit, waving at people as they come by.]

Diarmuid's gonna get a nice little ruffle of his hair from Gold as the teen plops down beside him, Exbo coming to sit near the kid too. Lakes can be chilly even in warm weather!]
Guess you already found out her kid's habit, huh? She's the same way. [Nice wake up calls to be honest.] Are you excited?
no subject
I am! I can't wait to learn more!
Silver told me Kingdra likes to do that. She actually did it when he was talking to me on the Network! I don't mind. What are occasional jokes between partners? They keep things fun!
[He bows his head slightly.]
My name is Diarmuid. What is yours? Does your partner have a name? I haven't seen a Pokemon like that before!
no subject
Silver's not too far away, either; he goes right up to greet the both of them.]
Diarmuid, right? [He's met the kid once before, hasn't he? Regardless, his enthusiasm is more than welcome, and even a little relieving. Seeing him so happy with a Pokémon definitely makes him feel like they made the right decision.]
no subject
Hello, Silver! Yes, that's me. Thank you so much for picking me to get an egg. I love him already!
[The boy giggles and then pulls on the wet bang that is falling into his face.]
And he likes me to! He keeps squirting water at me just like Kingdra does to you!
no subject
Just make sure to tell him if he sprays you too hard, alright? If he gets into the habit of being too rough with his water all the time, he might end up hurting someone on accident. It'll be good to teach him when it is and isn't okay to spray people, too. When wintertime comes back around, getting soaked all the time could get you really sick.
no subject
[Diarmuid nods at Silver and then looks toward where Horsea is bobbing in the water.]
You heard that, right? You can't spray too hard. We don't want anyone getting hurt!
[Horsea makes a soft squeaking sound and then shoots a small stream of water. It isn't very strong and lands just a short distance away from the pokemon without hitting anything. This causes Diarmuid to giggles and look back at Silver.]
I think that is his way of saying 'yes!'
no subject
Crystal'll sit right next to him. Hey there.]
It looks like you and Horsea are getting along pretty well, Diarmuid. I'm glad.
[Though it's no surprise -- kids are easy to connect with, and hatched Pokémon innately want to be with humans.]
no subject
[Diarmuid turns his eyes from where Horsea is playing to look at Crystal. Said eyes are still wide with excitement.]
I am so happy that I got picked to have him. He's the best pokemon ever. Even if he does get me wet sometimes!
[As if to prove the point, Horsea picks that moment to squirt some water Diarmuid's way. The boy just raises his hand to deflect it and then wipes his hand off on the towel, giggling the whole time.]
I think he's sad I stopped watching him...
no subject
Seems so. Was your puppy freaked out about him? [It's something she's been thinking on. Diarmuid and Cucuc both have dogs, and while there's no indication Pokémon wouldn't get along with animals from different worlds... Horsea kind of looks like a squeaky toy.] And your little brother and his, too.
no subject
Everyone was curious, but no one was...'freaked out.'
[The phrase is a little odd to him, so he says it slowly.]
We stayed up all night waiting for the egg to hatch. My brother and the puppies fell asleep, though. That is why they aren't here, though my brother wanted to see the other pokemon. I can't wait to take Horsea back so we can properly introduce everyone!
[The boy pauses suddenly, looking curious about something.]
Are we allowed to give our Pokemon names? Horsea is just the type of pokemon he is, right?

Go ahead, go on and play. I'll be right here.
[She glances down to the baby Pokémon, gesturing toward the lake. Nodding eagerly, the Totodile takes off at an adorable run and dives right in to start swimming around. Yuna herself lets out a small sigh and sits down on the bank to watch.]
Whew...

And maybe start wearing my boots to bed at night, too.

Crystal'll scoot over - just her. Her two proud parents have to chill with their own child.]
They're handfuls, right?

[Yuna laughs lightly, wiggling her bitten-up fingers and toes.]

It stops when they evolve, I think. [Though with luck, there won't be a need for them to evolve!] You could probably train her out of it too -- I'd guess Silver's probably already said something about that though.

She wondered if this nervousness was what Kanji'd had experienced as well, though perhaps he went on longer than she did. It was after midnight when the egg began to crack, and Naoto held her breath as the tiny creature worked itself free of the shell.
"...Hello, there..."
--
The following day, Naoto came along to the Lake, carrying with her a small basket covered over in a warm blanket (borrowed from Kanji, more than likely). She glanced around, before spotting the other trainers and walking towards them.
"Good morning..."
no subject
"I hope everything went well," seeing as Yuna and Diarmuid's seem to hatch without any trouble whatsoever. A blessing, considering it'd been pretty nervewracking to choose trainers and let them go. Crystal glances at the basket and smiles. "Is it in there?"
no subject
"Everything went very well... and yes, he's in here. At least... I assume it's a he? Perhaps you could tell me otherwise."
Carefully, Naoto pulled back the small blanket, revealing the baby Paras who was having a snooze on some more comfy blankets inside. Snot bubble and all.
"I didn't have the heart to wake him up; considering hatching probably takes a good deal of energy from one."
no subject
She nodded after a moment, closing her Pokédex. "You're right! He's a boy. There's no real way to tell the difference visually between male and female Paras unless you're specifically trained for it though."
Which means Naoto's got a pretty good eye. Crystal can appreciate that.
"And you're right again. There's probably a few Pokémon who are ready to go right out of the egg -" like Yuna's Totodile probably had been, what a spunky kid! "- but I think for the most part, it probably wears them out."
no subject
The little Paras was sleeping away with a snot bubble coming out of it's mouth, but even in that state, Naoto couldn't help but smile.
"Well, I'll let him rest till he awakens naturally. In the mean time... I do have a lot of questions regarding him."
Considering Naoto was pulling out a list, Crystal was in for a long question and answer period.
"I noticed that some Pokemon seem more adapt to different... elements, perhaps, is the term for it? And I'm curious about Nameko's diet habits, as well..."
Oops, look like she'd already named him.
