Save Our Parks! (OPEN)

Who: Everyone
Where: Mostly Districts 2 and 3
When: 20th September
Summary: In light of the new district reopening, there's still a lot to do! This log is open to everyone if they want to see what else is going on in the city, or help with some important tasks.
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. SOME NPC RESPONSES WILL BE SLOW UNTIL THE ONE WHO PLAYS THEM IS PRESENT.

I'm only happy when it rains...

Some of the natives have been busy. There's a little stand set up in the plaza that wasn't there before. They have minions, too: people with clipboards are assaulting recent arrivals on the street with requests. It seems that most of the employees are helping with the district reopening, and that means everyone else is incredibly understaffed.

But wait! Don't walk away! If your character helps with some of the chores around the city, they'll get a little money added to their stipend, as well as a coupon to the new store opening today in District 3.

District 2
Residents will be asked to help hang up tiny twinkling lights in the trees lining the streets, nothing so fancy as during the summer festival but something with lasting power throughout the oncoming rainfall. There are water fountains that need to be insulated, gigantic mountains of leaves that should be disposed of, and plants requiring trimming.

District 3
In addition to the winterization chores going on in the second district, the shopping district has their own problems to take care of. Large potted plants need to be moved inside-- that's a job for physically fit characters-- and little tents need to be taken down. Oh, and they need lights in the trees here, too.

New Store
There is a lot of excitable chattering surrounding the new store on the main shopping street. The sign is currently covered in plastic and unreadable.

Boxes
Near the water, groups of trees, or small parks, characters might stumble upon a group of canvas-covered boxes and someone desperately looking for help with them. There are a lot, after all.

YOU MAY NOW REPLY. Thank you for your patience!

NPCs will pop into the last two sections. Otherwise, comment and threadjack at will.

Thanks! These ones need to be hauled over by the trees so the squirrels have somewhere to run. Think you could help me out?

You bet! [He lifts the nearest box easily- he could handle more with his type of strength but feeling how the box shifts with the squirrels moving around inside, he figures he'd better carry each box individually.]

So uh do I just put it at the base of the trees and open it then or leave it?

[The man looks a touch surprised by his strength. He has a little harder time picking up another one himself.]

You can open it, but be careful not to stand in the way. Squirrels have sharp claws.

Right! Leave it to me!

[America walked off with the box towards the trees. He figured it would make it easier on everyone if he went a bit further into the grove than simply to the first tree he came upon; the squirrels needed their space and he could carry the box without a sweat.

At last he set the box gently down on the ground in front of a thick tall tree.]

This'll be a great home! Come on out guys!

[He pulled the flaps of the box open and stepped back to allow the squirrels to run free. Two came hopping out and quickly dashed up the trunk, taking to the branches making excited chittering noises. America beamed up at them, wishing them luck and went to fetch the box only to discover a third squirrel was still inside.]

Huh. What's the matter little guy? You too scared to come out?

[Looking through the air hole and seeing how the third squirrel hesitated, America couldn't help being reminded of a shy rabbit he had once befriended. Figuring a little dietary reassurance wouldn't hurt, America looked around the surrounding trees for any fruit or nuts the squirrel might like. He soon spotted a branch with several acorns on it and reached up to try grabbing them. Apparently the branch was just a little too high. He jumped, intending to grab the branch and temporarily pull it down to reach the nuts but when the hopped and grabbed it his superhuman strength kicked in and the entire branch came off in his hand. Oops. He glanced around hoping nobody had just seen that and quickly put the branch down.

He returned to the shy squirrel and lay the nuts in a line leading out of the box. The squirrel's nose twitched, noticing the food.]

That's it. Come on little guy you can do it!

[But when the squirrel still made no move America couldn't help wondering...]

What's the matter? Are you stuck in there? Your tail trapped or something?

[Without thinking he picked up the box peeked in through the larger opening to get a better look. Just as soon as he had, the squirrel jumped out and landed right on his face.

America let out a startled scream and dropped the box, arms flailing too much in panic to properly grab the squirrel off his face.]

AAAAH! AAAAAAAAAAAAH! NOOOO! BAD SQUIRREL! OH MY GOD! AAAAAAAAAH!

[Well that was a rather hilarious sight indeed. Still he felt bad for America. And so decided to help him out as best as he could.]

M-Mr. America, please calm down. You're startling the poor thing.

[He wasn't about to stop flailing. The squirrel was just as scared as he was by now. America attempted to steady himself, grabbing at the air and turning- right into a tree. He stumbled backwards and landed right on his behind.]
