Fire?!?

Who: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (smallspot ), Cu Chulainn (beforetights ), and anyone who wants to respond to the fire alarm/sprinklers.
Where: Room 2-17, Building One
When: Afternoon on 10-18
Format: Starting in prose, but please use whatever you want to reply!
Summary: Two little boys, two puppies, and a stove. What could go wrong here? (Please note that the fire will be small and quickly put out by the sprinklers, but there will still be smoke and the alarms to deal with. Oops indeed...)

It's a perfectly innocent scene. Two little boys who just recently adopted each other as brothers--one black-haired and one blue-haired. Two puppies--one grey and one white. They are playing in the living room of the apartment as little boys and puppies do. They were doing something earlier, but whatever it was has been forgotten in favor of playing with the puppies who are more fun than anything else could be.

What is this thing that has been so thoroughly forgotten? That would be lunch. To be specific, it would be the soup sitting to cook on the stove. Diarmuid has been shown how to make it in both the microwave and the stove, but he had opted for the stove even if the microwave would have been safer for two little boys. The microwave has no fire, after all. What is fun about watching food cook in a metal box? Not that even having the fire to cook food over had stood a chance against the appeal of a pair of puppies.

Unfortunately, having been forgotten means that the soup is boiling on a burner that is turned up too high without anyone to realize something is wrong. That is, until the smoke alarm goes off and, immediately after, the sprinklers in the apartment follow suit causing Cu Chulainn to yelp in surprise and Diarmuid to look up from his playing with wide, startled eyes.

"But there's a bad guy in our house!"

White comes to nuzzle against Cu Chulainn's leg as he speaks.

"A bad guy?" Suzaku looked around, trying to hear anything, but it was hard over the alarms and water. "Even more reason to get out, did they hurt you?"

[beforetights]

"No, they haven't! I'd make sure they didn't!"

He looks at Diarmuid and the puppies.

"Have them go first. I gotta fight the bad guys!"

[swordofzero]

[He reached out to grab him] You all go together, you don't split up in times like this.

[beforetights]

Hey!

[He squirms a little.]

[swordofzero]

"Come on we have to leave." He pulls him towards the door, reaching out to grab the puppies as well. "There's a fire and we have to leave the building."

[beforetights]

"There's an actual fire? Then what about my hurley stick? Or Diarmuid's swords? I need to get those!"

He's yanked toward the outside, but struggles all the way.

[swordofzero]

"No we go outside." Suzaku pulled him out. "People will come to put the fire out, with proper equipment, but our job is to get out of the building."

[beforetights]

"How quick will they come! What if everything burns down by then?"

He continues squirming and even stamps his feet, showing that he's ready for a tantrum.

[swordofzero]

"They are probably already here, and we should not slow them down anymore by remaining in the building." Suzaku still sounds stern, and he continues to pull Cu, hoping to get him outside before the tantrum hits.

Though Cu Chulainn is stubborn and strong, he's still rather short and light, so he's dragged out by Suzaku even as he tries to throw his tantrum.

"Let go let go let go! I don't see anyone coming at all!

[swordofzero]

"They will be here soon." He continued pulling him along, getting down the stairs and out of the building, herding the children and puppies over to a spot away from the buildings to safety. He didn't let go of Cu yet, not wanting to until he had calmed down.

Cu Chulainn struggles all the way down the stairs. Only after they get to the lobby, where he hears Diarmuid's voice, does he stop.

"Are they here yet? The people fighting the fire?"

He squints at the people in the lobby through his wet, red eyes.

[swordofzero]

"I think that is them..." Suzaku pointed. There were only two people and it seemed they were investigators rather than full on fire people, but if the fire had been small the sprinklers probably dealt with it and they would just have to investigate the building, to make sure it was safe.

[beforetights]

"Oh..."

He starts calming down...but then he sees some blurry shadow reaching for him.

"Suzaku, watch out! There's the bad guy!"

[swordofzero]

"Where?" Suzaku looks around, drawing Cu behind him, not sure what he's seeing. It dawns on him a moment later. "Is the bad guy a shadowy figure?"

[beforetights]

"Right there! In front of you!"

He quickly nods at Suzaku's questions.

"Yes! He looks like a shadow!"

[swordofzero]

"They aren't real." Suzaku told him, "I've been seeing them as well. They are just shadows." It was hard to explain when he didn't understand it himself.

[beforetights]

"Really? Are you sure? They look real!"

[swordofzero]

"I know. But they are just shadows. For now I think the best thing is to just ignore them." So far he hadn't heard of them hurting anyone.

[beforetights]

"Really, you think so? But they made a fire in our house!"

[swordofzero]

I don't think that was the shadows. [He frowned]

[beforetights]

"Then who was it?"

He's still unsure if he should believe that it was just an accident caused by being distracted.

[swordofzero]

"I am unsure, did you have anything in the kitchen? The oven on or the microwave?" From the smoke in their apartment it seemed like it was there that the fire had started.

[beforetights]

"Diarmuid was making soup for me, but it's not his fault! I know it isn't!"
