Fire?!?
Who: Diarmuid Ua Duibhne (
smallspot ), Cu Chulainn (
beforetights ), and anyone who wants to respond to the fire alarm/sprinklers.
Where: Room 2-17, Building One
When: Afternoon on 10-18
Format: Starting in prose, but please use whatever you want to reply!
Summary: Two little boys, two puppies, and a stove. What could go wrong here? (Please note that the fire will be small and quickly put out by the sprinklers, but there will still be smoke and the alarms to deal with. Oops indeed...)
Warnings: Cuteness, puppies, fire?
Edit: Lotus (
beforetights ) is having some net issues currently thanks Murphy so she has asked that we have the boys responding separately instead of in a rotation like we originally planned. That way threads aren't held up. Sorry for any confusion!
It's a perfectly innocent scene. Two little boys who just recently adopted each other as brothers--one black-haired and one blue-haired. Two puppies--one grey and one white. They are playing in the living room of the apartment as little boys and puppies do. They were doing something earlier, but whatever it was has been forgotten in favor of playing with the puppies who are more fun than anything else could be.
What is this thing that has been so thoroughly forgotten? That would be lunch. To be specific, it would be the soup sitting to cook on the stove. Diarmuid has been shown how to make it in both the microwave and the stove, but he had opted for the stove even if the microwave would have been safer for two little boys. The microwave has no fire, after all. What is fun about watching food cook in a metal box? Not that even having the fire to cook food over had stood a chance against the appeal of a pair of puppies.
Unfortunately, having been forgotten means that the soup is boiling on a burner that is turned up too high without anyone to realize something is wrong. That is, until the smoke alarm goes off and, immediately after, the sprinklers in the apartment follow suit causing Cu Chulainn to yelp in surprise and Diarmuid to look up from his playing with wide, startled eyes.
Oops...
(OOC: Please post who you would like to respond to your reply--either Diarmuid, Cu Chulainn or both. If you don't put anything both boys will respond by default. Feel free to include event shenanigans if you would like!)

Don't yell at White. He's just scared right now, like we are.
[He reaches out and pats the puppy on the head.]
Go sit with Grey, okay?

It's working! It's--
[His words cut off when he notices something out of the corner of his eye. Diarmuid jumps, his exclamation of surprise nearly a squeak.]
There really is something in here! Bad spirit go away!
no subject
[He lets go of the widow and turns around, However, his eyes are temporarily blinded by his tears.]
You! Get out here! N--
[And he descends into a coughing fit.]

[Diarmuid runs to his brother's side and puts an arm around him.]
Maybe we need to go outside until the smoke clears and th--
[He stops talking as the smoke alarm and sprinklers suddenly stop.]
It stopped!
no subject
[He continues to rub at his eyes.]
Did the bad person leave?
no subject
I don't know. Lets go outside while the smoke clears. If it hasn't left, maybe it will while we are outside!
no subject
[Everything too blurry for him.]
no subject
Close your eyes and let me lead you, okay? I won't let anything happen to you or the puppies!
[Especially, since he needs to make up for messing up before.]

Here's the door. We are almost out!
[It takes him a moment because of the lingering smoke, but Diarmuid soon has the door open and is leading his brother out of it.]
no subject
Can I open my eyes now? Where are the puppies?
no subject
Yes! We are out now. Open your eyes and sit down. The puppies are right here with us. Everyone is safe!
no subject
Yay! You saved all of us! You're a really good knight!
no subject
If I was a good knight this wouldn't have happened. You got hurt!
[Okay, so a little smoke inhalation and some watery eyes isn't really getting hurt, but Diarmuid still feels horrible that it happened.]
no subject
Not very much! You saved me before I could be hurt worse.
no subject
Don't keep rubbing. I think that will make it worse. I will go back in a get a wet towel. Maybe some cool water will help!
no subject
No. Stay. It could be dangerous in there if you go all by yourself.
no subject
[Diarmuid wants his brother to feel better right now. That is all he cares about. It doesn't really seem to matter to him that he might get hurt.]
I want you to be better!
no subject
[He starts crying again. Partly because he's frustrated, and partly because his eyes still hurt. One hand goes to rub furiously at his eyes, as if that would make them less red.]
no subject
[Diarmuid sits down next to his brother, putting an arm around him to prove his point.]
Now, don't rub your eyes anymore. It will make them worse!
no subject
[He squats down and hugs his knees. Then, he tries to rub his eyes with his shirt.]
And my throat is dry and I'm thirsty...
[He just wants to go somewhere where he can get some water.]
no subject
Do you think your room will be smoky? It is pretty much closed off from mine. Maybe we can go in there and get you something to drink!
no subject
[He turns his face in the direction of his room.
no subject
Do you just want to sit here while I go and get what you need? You should rest!
