Who: Everyone! Where: City wide event! When: November 23rd to November 30th Summary: Seasons change, and in a dramatic way! Warnings: 100% chance of heavy rainfall, and a good chance of musical numbers.
There's a definite change in the seasons.
In between the initial rain showers the locals are preparing for the change in the weather, making sure their roofs are sturdy and mended, windows are closed and secured, supplies are ready...Those who help out, or have helped in prior events might even find a care package prepared and left in the lobby of their apartment, or outside their door. (The contents being a few days worth of simple food; rice gimbap, some fruits, etc. And a few candles as well.) If asked, they say that the seasons are shifting, and the rainy season will be here in full force soon.
...And sure enough if a few days, on the morning of the 23rd, the weather DOES shift, and those clouds that have been gathering and sprinkling finally let loose with all that stored up rain. It falls in light drizzles, heavy torrents, gentle misting curtains, but most key of all it NEVER lets up. There's always some precipitation going.
That said, it might be good to head out with an umbrella when heading out. There's something about some of these storms that's odd; maybe it's just the mood that comes with the rain, the rhythm of the drops on the roofs and the ground, but...There's something almost musical about it at times. Sort of reminds one of a song, in fact!

It's the house telling you to close your eyes
S-so were they singing a... duet? His cheeks flushed up at the thought, and he realised they were in the middle of the street, SINGING to one another...

Gripping Junpei's hand, she looked up at him, seeing his face go red. This was a very strange situation. Possibly embarrassing. Was it some kind of charm spell? She didn't recall feeling anything before seeing him. Perhaps it was some kind of prank.

No, if it was a charm spell, he wouldn't be thinking straight; this was something else entirely. Maybe if he TRIED to talk-- he put all of his thought and will power into trying to form a sentence, but instead his voice only lifted;

They really were singing a duet. And to a song she wasn't sure what to think of. It sounded oddly personal. Then without even thinking, she sang;
There's an old voice in my head that's
holding me back
Oh dear. That line resonated with her. Even more confused, she squeezed Junpei's hand for comfort, wondering if they could outrun the singing. It didn't make much sense, but then again, neither did bursting into a duet in the rain.

Well tell her that I miss our little talks
He squeezed her hand back, looking around briefly to see if there was anywhere they could flee to-- but where could they go to stop SINGING? They weren't even sure what brought this on!

Soon it will be over and buried with our past
She wished that maybe they had ended up with a happier song. This one was starting to remind her of their time with Minako. Taking a breath, she tugged at his hand, beginning to walk down the street. Maybe they'd find someone, and they could help. Or at least confirm it wasn't just happening to them.

We used to play outside when we were young
And full of life and full of love.
Ahahaha, ow. Those lyrics hit below the belt, for sure. Especially lately, it felt like it had been ages since he felt like that...

Somedays I don't know if I am wrong or right.
Walking a bit faster, she had the wild thought of trying to outrun this. Whatever it was. It was a pointless thought, given it was happening to them on the inside. But she found herself walking faster and faster. Trying to escape the song and the memories it brought along with it.

He followed, glancing around to make sure no one was following them, enchanting them? Whatever was making them sing...
'Cause though the truth may vary-
Back to the chorus now? How much longer would this be?

She was almost running now, pulling Junpei behind her, already soaked through. They needed to get out of the rain, or else they were going to get sick. But her mind was filling up with memories and the lyrics falling out of her mouth.
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say!
Hey!

Hey!
No... no, running wasn't going to help them, was it? Running from the song, or their memories was no use...
Junpei started to put on the breaks, pulling back on Fuuka to slow her down.
Though the truth may vary-
And having finally slowed her, moved to pull her in close, holding her other hand now with a firm squeeze.
-this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore,
He never thought it would come to this; standing in the middle of the rain, singing his heart out in a duet with Fuuka Yamagishi, but here they were, and when he looked into her eyes, he could see she was feeling the same. He tried again to open his mouth, to say something to her; that it was okay, that he felt the same, they'd be alright--
You're gone, gone, gone away,
I watched you disappear.
...And instead, Junpei pulled her in closer to embrace her, clenching his eyes shut.
All that's left is a ghost of you.
She'd forgive him for this, right?

Though the truth may vary--
Looking up at him, as he pulled her closer, tears swelling up in her eyes.
This ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.
She searched his face, though she didn't know what she was looking for. Answers? Hope? Squeezing his hand, all she could think of was Minako. Their Minako. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she opened her mouth just as he did, singing in a wavering voice.
You're gone, gone, gone away
I watched you disappear
Tears began to flow down her face, mingling with the rain. She was grateful for the sudden embrace, instantly wrapping her arms around him. Pressing her face into his chest her voice was muffled as she continued.
All that's left is a ghost of you.

There's nothing we can do,
And after remembering everything, after her death, he'd seen the whole team start to pull away from one another; almost too scared to look one another in the eye. It'd hurt so goddamn much, but he'd know idea how to deal with it. That night, going to the Shrine with Fuuka, it was the first time he'd felt--
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Like hell he was letting go! ... But maybe... maybe that wasn't what the lyrics meant... Gently, he cupped Fuuka's chin, lifting it up as his voice started to raise again, slightly choked from his feelings.
Now wait, wait, wait for me
Please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep...!
It... it was okay to grieve over her. They'd lost something important... but she wasn't really gone from them, was she?
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!

But here in the rain they were sobbing and singing together...neither of which she expected to do with anyone.
'At least it's with Junpei,' she found herself thinking. Of everyone, she was glad it was him. Just as choked up as he was, her voice barely came out as she sang with him.
Now wait, wait, wait for me
Please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep...!
She had to close her eyes as they burned with tears and rain. She missed Minako so much she wasn't sure how she was able to stand. It was almost as if they were singing to her now...or was she singing through them? Clinging to Junpei, she sang as loud as she could, letting out all of her emotions in one go.
Hey!
Don't listen to a word I say
Hey!
The screams all sound the same
Hey!
Though the truth may vary
This ship will carry our
bodies safe to shore

As the lyrics trailed off, the song finishing, Junpei held onto his friend for a while longer, letting her cry against him, his own tears dripping down his face. When he did eventually step back to look her over, checking to make sure she was okay, he glanced down and noticed...
Gingerly, he reached down, grasping the umbrella she had on her person and opening it, holding it to cover them both. It would do little as they were already soaked, but...
"...Fuuka...?"
Oh god, he could SPEAK again, and his throat was raw...
"F-fuuka, You okay? S-sorry, I didn't..."
He didn't know what to say. How could he? He couldn't even explain what had happened!

When Junpei pulled away, she still held onto his shirt lightly, rubbing some of the water off her face. Hearing him speak, and not sing, she looked up at him with wide eyes.
"...Jun...Junpei...?"
They sounded so hoarse! Singing as much as they did would do that, she supposed. Bowing her head, she continued to hold onto Junpei's shirt, staring at their shoes.
"...I'm not sorry..." she finally said, looking up at him, her eyes and face red. She smiled wearily. "...it's better to cry about her together...o-or sing about her I guess, then to just...do nothing."
no subject
He managed a small chuckle, before looking back at Fuuka proper. She couldn't look at him like this... but who could blame her?
"Thanks, Fuuka. For uh, not... freakin' out too much."
It was only then that it struck him how they looked; in one anothers arms, under an umbrella ... Junpei's face reddened, and he pulled back a little more instinctively.
"U-um... want me to walk you back to your buildin'?"
no subject
"O-oh, well...we've been in...we've been in worse situations. And remaining calm is better then freaking out," she mumbled, dropping her hands from his shirt, realizing there wasn't a need to have them there anymore.
"...y-yes, that would be nice. I don't want to start singing again...at least not alone," she said with a dry chuckle.
no subject
He smiled, though what he said was sincere; she really DID have a nice voice, and he had an odd feeling it would be stuck in his head for the next few days.
"Yeah, we have..."
Her hand left his shirt, and Junpei realised he missed it. Nodding, He held up the umbrella, carefully placing his hand on her shoulder to lead the way.
His chest was still aching as they walked towards the building, and he wasn't sure what was causing it anymore; the singing, the memories of his lost friend, or... something else he couldn't quite put his finger on.
