Who: Everyone! Where: District 1 and 2, apartments and arrival center When: December 25th Summary: A dimensional pull happens for a brief, brief amount of time...And quite a few things come through! Warnings: Many, many presents.
Sometime in the morning, a message flashes up on the terminal screens; 'Your items have been gathered in the Welcome Square and the Welcome Center. Please pick them up as soon as possible.' That's all it says, and it stick around on the screens for most of the day.
As for the square proper? During the night, it seems that someone has made mischief and merry with the holiday lights, and strung them around the fountain. The end result is a twinkling structure, which forms the center in a pile of gifts that have been stacked up and around. There are tags on the packages, with the recipients name printed clearly across them. A few of the more fragile (or living) gifts have been moved inside, and a handful of them can also be found on the roof of the building.
And for a few people? They might not find much when it comes to their gifts, until they return to their apartments and find something waiting for them. Either way, the gifts have arrived, in order to spread some cheer. Or complete confusion.

The last thing England was was mad. He couldn't be mad at Diarmuid just for being invisible. He grinned. "That's true, too. Have you ever done that before?"
"You mean use this to hide from the evil spirits?" Diarmuid shakes his head, letting the cloak fall back to its normal place, "No. I don't usually play with it that much since father might need it. I only play with it when I am playing hide and seek with father. Then I hide under it and he comes looking for me. He knows I'm there, but he always looks other places before finding me."
"Besides, most evil spirits stay away from my father's home. He's a god so he can make them listen!" Diarmuid looks uncertain for a moment, "Since father's not here, it's okay if I play with it a little, right?"
A god? Well, now there was something more England wanted to learn about. These children he'd met that lived near his lands intrigued him. They were from legends, and yet they were here.
But his expression softened at Diarmuid's question. "It will be alright," he said. "After all, you have it now, so it's your duty to take care of it, yeah?"
Diarmuid nods, pulling the cloak tightly around him, "I will! I will take good care of it. After all, they were nice enough to give it to me right when I was missing father a whole lot! Now I won't miss him so much and when I do, I can crawl into this and remember all the fun times we've had playing with it!"
The boy pauses for a moment and then gives England a curious look, "When you miss people, how do you deal with it?"
That question surprised England. He blushed lightly and then looked down at the box in his lap. Why did they have to discuss his feelings? Sure, England missed his fellow countries a lot. There would be gray days devoted to America, depending on the time of year, but he didn't want to talk about that! England did not like talking about other people or how much he loved and missed them!
And yet it was always difficult for him to not be honest with a child. He finally sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "Me specifically? Well, I suppose it depends on how much I miss them. Sometimes, it's best to keep your mind busy by doing other things. I will work, or read, or do something to take my thoughts off that person, especially if I can't help the situation."
"I'm too young to work a real job, but I guess training is kind of like work, isn't it? I train with my swords a lot and I just got my practice spear from home, so I will be practicing with it too! I am learning to read and write, and those take a lot of focus. They would be good distractions, wouldn't they?"
He looks down at the ground and rocks back and forth on his heels for a moment, "I want to have a party to celebrate meeting everyone who has left here, but the weather is so bad now. I would like to wait until it is warm again, but I don't know how long that will be. The cold lasts a long time back home and we don't get this much snow either..."
Ah, kids were always so simple. Diarmuid was a little chatterbox, and England could only smile softly. "I'm sure you could throw a party whenever you wanted. The officials here don't seem to mind it."
Diarmuid does indeed like to talk, but that is understandable since he tends to trust everyone he runs into and wants to share with them the things that interest him or make him happy. He hasn't really learned yet that sometimes it's okay not to tell everyone everything ever.
Children...
"Everything should be okay, but I am going to talk to Lady Irene to make sure. It's just I would like to have the party outside and you can't really have a party outside right now! It might not be bad to have it in the temple either, but I would need to ask for permission to use it. It's a holy place!"
Diarmuid was in safe hands with England. He may enjoy gossip from time to time, but he had no reason to talk behind the backs of children. He saved his spiteful grudgewanking for people like France.
"Mmn," the island nodded thoughtfully. "I don't think a temple would be a good place for a party. Unless you wanted to create some sort of memorial service." He tapped his lips in thought as the fairy circled around them again curiously.
"I want it to be....both?" Diarmuid frowns slightly as he tries to puzzle out the best way to explain his ideas, "I want people to celebrate having gotten the chance to meet others, but I know people will be sad to that they are gone and might use it as a way to say good bye since they never got to. I was thinking of having them send wishes and candles out on the water..." He pauses and shakes his head, "But we can't do that now. All the water is frozen!"
"There's no rush," England tilted his head, trying to offer Diarmuid an encouraging smile. "I think whatever you do will be appreciated."
In all seriousness, England wondered if a party like that even mattered. Didn't they all want to return home eventually? Then again, he'd only started reaching out and making friends recently. Diarmuid probably knew a lot more people.
Perhaps once Diarmuid had known more people than England, but maybe not so much now. It seems like over the last little while, every time he had turned around another person he had been friends with was gone. It's been hard and he's wanted to do something to celebrate the time they'd had even if it was short. He is still glad to have met all of them even if they are gone now.
"Maybe it would be best to wait. I really want to have it outside and I think it would be more fun for everyone that way. We can have a fire and a picnic just like I originally wanted to when I first thought of this idea! Besides, I can get more people to help me that way. I don't know if my brother and I can do it all alone."
A fire and a picnic sounded really nice, actually. England was fond of that idea, even if he did think planning a memorial-for-the-gone party was a waste of time. Oh, to be young and carefree!
"I'm quite certain plenty of people will help you," he said with conviction. At least England knew that was true. Lots of people had pulled together for the last few holidays to plan parties and gift-exchanges. "If you're too excited and want to start now, you can always write down the ideas you have so you can discuss them later. That gives you a head start!"
Diarmuid giggles and claps his hands, "I already am! Suzaku helped me write down a list of things I will need and my brother is helping me plan what we will do and Lord September even bought me some candles to help with that part! I still need..." the boy falls into thought for a moment before continuing, "...I need someone to help me let others know about it, but that can wait a while. I need to have a fixed date first!"
"Do you know anyone who might want to help me? I am sure I am probably forgetting some things..."
England shrugged. "Asch seems like a good person to ask. She is always helping out with things like that. Or you could even ask America... Though I haven't seen him in a while." And England's expression faltered a bit. Lately he'd been wondering if America, himself had been sent back home. But he was always a pessimistic, so perhaps he was needlessly worrying over nothing.
I think there is only the one Ashe in game, or am I mistaken?
"Ashe..." Diarmuid mutters the name to himself wondering why it seems familiar and then giggles. Oh yes...there was that and...
"Ashe is Lord September's new lady friend! You are right. I should ask her!" His excitement fades, though, when England mentions he hasn't seen America in a long time, "Lord America is my brother's friend. We helped him find a picture he lost once. I hope he hasn't gone home. Lots of people would be sad! Brother said he was even going to open a ham-burger store. I wanted to try one since I haven't before."
Ah, right. The hamburger restaurant. England can't help but roll his eyes. "If he went home then I think that's rather unfair." What a jerk! To make friends with all these people, give out hugs, and then disappear during the holidays. England wouldn't stand for it. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to wring America's neck!
And make him cry. What if America had left already? Why would he get to go home and not England?
Good, good. I would be so embarrassed if I crossed two characters. *hides*
Diarmuid tilts his head slightly, noticing the shift in England's mood but not sure of the cause. If he is worried about his friend being gone, why does he suddenly seem angry? "Is something wrong? Are you mad? Or...don't you like hamburgers?"
Er. Right. Diarmuid was still there. England cleared his throat. "A-ah, no... Nothing like that. Never mind!" The fairy patted England's shoulder in pity.
Diarmuid's head tilt becomes more pronounced. If he was confused before, he is more so now between how England's actions, his words, and the fairy's reaction all conflict.
"I think I missed something, but if you aren't mad, that's good! Lord America is a nice person. It would be sad if you were mad at him."
Oh, Diarmuid. If only you knew how often England was mad at America. It happened all the time. "I suppose there are some good things about him. Yes. Have you seen him, actually?"
Diarmuid nods and holds up a finger, "Once back before it got cold. My brother and I met him in the mall. While we were talking, he noticed that a picture he really liked was missing and so we helped him look for it. Little Dia helped us look too!"
It was, though Diarmuid and his brother never knew that.
"Little Dia! My butterfly. Lord Wing helped me name him!" There is a slight movement in Diarmuid's hair and then suddenly a blue and green butterfly appears. It launches itself into the air and starts to circle around England's head.
