Call to Hamburger Duty

Who: America and anyone stopping by
Where: America's burger restaurant, District 1
When: Jan 9
Summary: America is taking care of the last preparations before he opens his restaurant. Those who agreed to help him with the menu, wanted cooking lessons, or were interested in working there can stop by. (Walk-ins also welcome.)
Warnings: none

America had managed to find a retail space for rent on a street corner near the edge of districts 1 and 2. It wasn't on the busiest street- a couple blocks from one of the heavy traffic roads but it was decent for a start. Before opening he had to make some last arrangements, most importantly hiring staff and finalizing the menu.

He sent out an invitation on the network to the other city visitors to stop by and taste test items or come in for a job interview. When the time came, he went to the location of his business and fired things up in the kitchen to prepare.

England crinkled his nose. No matter how delicious America's hamburgers were, he would not be suckered in.

"You're supposed to be working on getting home," he scoffed. "Or have you forgotten that we have responsibilities?"

It was... not a bad plan, England admitted to himself. You attracted more flies with honey, right? And good food was one way of gaining peoples' trust. He relaxed his posture a little, to show that he was more comfortable. In fact, England was much happier these days, thanks to... Well, never mind that.

"Whatever," he said dismissively. In the end, England usually backed-up America's ideas. They shared a lot of things, like their language and television shows. When it came to it, England knew America was strong, and in times of war, he was almost always on America's side.

That was fast. England sighed loudly and sat at the counter to eat. He first lifted up the hamburger to check the doneness and condiments. It was just how he liked it. "So, were you really here all Christmas? I haven't seen you in forever."

Homesick? America was actually admitting he was homesick? Well, shouldn't he be? After all, they had both been here quite a long time, half a year. England was homesick, as well, but he never thought America would say he was. Maybe England just figured the hero was too stubborn.

He mumbled an affirmation, eyes darting off to the side as he chewed on his hamburger. Yes, they had spent Christmas together.
