SCENE: Y'AKENO'S apartment.

Y'AKENO introduced AQUA to her friend ALLU, another adventurer from her own world. wine's been poured and thank the lord. the ladies are all getting to know each other and exchanging stories of their world, their lives, their jobs...

AQUA:

(holding her glass of wine to her lips to hide her mischievous smile)

So we never let Ven do the laundry again. We still have no idea how he managed to turn everything brown.

(she shakes her head, still smiling, then takes a large swig and sets down her glass, shrugging.)

Life with two boys, I guess.

[ said in her best Urianger impersonation.... which is not very good at all and sends her into a giggle fit that nearly makes her topple over.

wait those are braids.... oooooh braids. she's going to poke that now. must play with the thing. ]

[seeing a small person on Terra's shoulders reminded her of the days when Ven had just come to them, and Aqua's eyes filled with tears when no one was looking. in the back of her mind that was still perfectly sober, she was instantly annoyed with herself for doing so in front of others, but they were distracted by Terra's braid.

--wait, Terra's braid?

congratulations, everyone, you saved yourself from a weepy Aqua with hair talk.]

Oh no, how-- Since when can you braid?!

[sadness of the moment before completely forgotten, she darts over and her mouth drops open as she fingers it in amazement.]

And your hair is so NICE! What on earth-

[Aqua? Even with a lalafell on his shoulder and you, said lalafell, and a miqo'te messing with his hair? That just earns you a Look.] Since we were kids. You used to make me braid yours when you kept it long.

[At the 'nice' part of her observation, his blush returns and he looks back into his apartment.] I'll tell you once we're all inside.

[Follow him in, you two that are still on your feet. Or finish following him in, if you're already started.]

Ohhh, Aqua had her hair long?

[ leeeans back, looking at aqua upside down and nearly letting go before she grips onto terra harder. ]

Maybe it's that new hair tonic...

[ ooooh boy now she has theories developing in her very much not sober mind. at least she's in when she starts squinting at Aqua a bit, as though imagining Aqua with long hair, and nodding. ]

It'd look cute~ [ says the drunken kitteh. ]

[there had been a pause and then and 'oh, right', but it had disappeared in the cooing of Allu and Y'akeno.

Oh... No, it was just too troublesome with training... You're all the ones with nice hair. I'm surpressed... Impressed... Surprised that you look so good with a braid.

[Terra's braid gets playfully jostled up and down...as much to emphasize her statement as to ascertain whether she could still see straight.]

She used to. It even looked nice. [Who is heading into the apartment with a lalafell on his shoulder now? Terra is.] She would always keep it tied back somehow, just to keep it out of the way. She cut it when she was about thirteen.

[There's an odd pang of... something, when he remembers how he'd reacted to seeing it short the first time.]

My, my, that sounds like such a fond memory! [ teasing terra, laughing against his shoulder.

[The reaction from Aqua (even the ribbing) gets him laughing along with Allu and Y'akeno, albeit not as raucously as the other two.] Yes, "even".

[Turning his head a little to get a better look at Allu there on his shoulder.] I'm not 'that' vindictive; you're safe.

[Wait, did he hear that right? 'Too much on an empty stomach'? ... ...

That... doesn't bode well for Aqua at all. He'll have to check what he has in the pantry and fridge when they're all inside.]

[Stopping as he passes by the couch, and putting the sounds together to hopefully guess the word.] An intervention?

[Just shaking his head.] Sixteen or seventeen, maybe. Definitely not in your twenties.

[whacks him in the arm with the back of her hand; a reprimand more than an actual strike]

Thirty-one, Aqua. [The correction is barely audible, but he says it anyway.

More audibly, and in a tone of voice that all but says 'please don't ask, I don't want to talk about it', he continues.] Time didn't touch us much, thankfully. The last ten years... weren't very pleasant.

[Y'akeno opens her mouth to say something, but the moment her lips part she feels the familiar and strong tug on her consciousness that not even alcohol could dull. She presses a hand to her forehead in an effort to pull herself together, but still finds herself looking into Terra's eyes before falling onto one knee as she loses her balance and everything turns white.

She can see far above a battle taking place. Spells she could never have imagined, devastation wrought upon the land liken to the carnage at Carteneau, all by five people, seemed to die down as a large beam of light erupted from where two fought.

"Ven!"

"And now, Terra, it is time for the final union!"

As if caught in static, she could see an old man - and elder of their "order" by her judgement - stab himself with his own keyblade, and his heart, his soul, and the rest of his very being, floating there undiffused like the souls she was akin to seeing. It was hard to comprehend what all she was seeing, but the fear was palpable... and the darkness resonating from that disembodied soul was shaking her to the core.

She knew that darkness...

Vessel... new one... x-blade...

Why was that soul getting closer to Terra?

Oh Goddess, no!

Yet as many visions went, she could not change the outcome of past events. As the armor flashed over his body and she saw the confident smirk crossing Xehanort's lips, she could not help but look on in horror as the armor clattered to the ground and Terra... was Terra no longer.

'Terra...'

She watched on as the armor stood up, defeated its possessed master, and its victorious-yet-defeated sinking to the ground as it could not reclaim its body with anger alone. Watched in horrified silence as her possessed friend was spirited away elsewhere by a strange light....

Watched, as Xehanort in Terra's body tried to snuff out a light that she had just befriended.

Watched... as that very light fought valliantly, yet had to sacrifice herself to save her still-possessed friend from the darkness.
