Flashy meets Slashy, Part 2!
Who: Tony Stark & Bucky Barnes. Later: YOU!
Where: First and second districts, possibly elsewhere
When: September 6th
Summary: A rematch for the ages, thanks to a little bit of malfunctioning dangerous tech. Later: Bucky roams around so people can point and laugh.
Warnings: Violence. Murderous intent. General Winter Soldier things.
[The former assassin thought he was beginning to improve himself, that maybe he could reclaim some part of his life that wasn't HYDRA and begin to move forward in earnest. He's been making progress towards that end and towards keeping the memories he's managed to get a hold of. He felt like he had purpose--that he was ready for whatever came his way.
It isn't that he clung to Steve so much that a day away makes him nervous. It's the thought that he might not return, that he might not remember, that brings him the most unease.
But instead of focusing on the things he can't change, he decides to focus on something he can do. Said something is currently taking a good look at the closed southern districts from atop a few roofs in the first and second districts. He remembers the warning given to them--that entering the places will drain their energy rapidly--but he wonders if maybe there's something hidden there, some reason for them to have kept these places closed when it's been pointed out that enough energy has been made to open them.
He doesn't really expect anyone to bother him, and he's fairly certain anyone he encounters will leave him be. It's not like he hasn't made peace (however shaky) with the one he had a violent encounter with the last time he was surveying things from a roof.]
[OPEN]
[To say Bucky is tired and in pain is a massive understatement. He's been tossed around and injured in more ways than he'd like to admit, and frankly, he doesn't intend to. He honestly could have nodded off in his room to speed up his recovery, but given that Stark is currently inhabiting the apartment, he thinks it's better to... go elsewhere, at least for the moment.
He decides to walk through the nearby districts, seeing what kind of collateral damage they left. A few dents and cracks in walls, a mark where he narrowly dodged getting blown up, bloodstains here and there--some his, some Stark's. He wonders if anyone saw them fighting, either the empty suit going berserk and attacking him or his attempts to hunt down the fleeing engineer. It would be nicer if no one did. He really doesn't feel like explaining anything.
At least he's in some less-tattered clothes now, even if he's only half bandaged up. He still looks like a mess, sadly, walking through the streets for no real reason except to get out of his shared apartment.]

If we wait too long, the spaghetti will get cold.
[Diarmuid hands Kit her plate and then looks at Bucky.]
Do you want us to call Steve? Or would you rather rest for now?
[It might be easier for Bucky to explain things to Steve once he is feeling better.]
no subject
Well, it's not like waiting will make it any easier to say. He looks up at Diarmuid.]
Steve hasn't been here for a couple of days.
no subject
He hasn't? [pause] Did you check the hospital? That's where Luke was when I couldn't find him. Sometimes people fall asleep for a long time here, and when that happens, they take them there so they can be taken care of until they wake up.
no subject
[Diarmuid pauses in filling his plate to look back at Bucky and Kit.]
Even if he's not at the hospital, if his things are still here, that means he will come back! When I was sent home, my things all stayed here until I came back. It was like I was gone a whole year from my side, but I was only gone from here about three days!
no subject
He hadn't looked much into Steve's room, either, other than to see if he was there; his phone was inside when he attempted to contact the captain.]
I didn't check.
[But he's still expecting the worst. As usual. He's further distracted by the thought that more than a year might even pass for Steve. What if he finally gets to the point where they fought--would it change anything?
It would be confusing enough to think about if he wasn't injured and exhausted. After a moment, he finally takes a bite of his food instead of just staring at it.]

We can check the hospital tomorrow. It's getting a little late, and I don't think they'd let visitors in by the time we'd get there.
[She can tell James is upset though. And who wouldn't be? Steve was his closest friend here, and had probably been the same back home. He was probably worried about him.]
I'm sure he'll be OK, though, whatever happens. He's really strong and brave. I don't think anything could keep him down for long.
no subject
[Diarmuid nods confidently and then turns to finish filling his plate. Once he is done, he hops down off the chair and joins Kit and James.]
I felt a little out of place for a short time when I left and came back, but I didn't forget anyone and I was really happy to be back. I am sure Steve is going to be very glad to see you when he gets back. Though, he won't be happy to see you hurt. You really need to rest so you are better by then, okay?
[And that includes eating. So eat up, Bucky!]
no subject
Strong and brave aren't exactly the words he'd use, even if he agrees with it on some level. And he's not entirely sure about how happy the man will be to see him when he returns, if he does indeed go through their fight before he does.]
He's stubborn. [He takes another couple of bites of his pasta, much hungrier now that he's had a first taste. He at least has the grace to swallow before he speaks again.]
I'll heal.
no subject
Yeah, he's that too. I think they kind of go together.
[At least they did if Lion-O and Tygra were any indication. They were two of the bravest and most stubborn cats Kit had ever met.
Kit took a bite of her pasta too also waiting for her mouth to be empty again before she spoke, sounding a bit thoughtful.]
Steve reminds me a little of Lion-O that way. And if he's anything like Lion-O, I know he'll be happy to see his friend again.
[She eats another bite of her pasta, her tone becoming a bit matter-of-fact when she speaks again.]
And yeah, you'll heal either way. But you'll heal better and faster if you're full of good food while you're doing it.
And besides... [Kit pauses to finish off another big bite of spaghetti, slurping a dangling noodle up into her mouth.] ... it tastes really good. You did a great job Diarmuid.
no subject
[And not a burned mess like a lot of his attempts ended up being. Really, he is surprised his brother hasn't complained about the smell of burnt food yet. At least the puppies enjoyed eating a lot of his failed attempts.]
Being stubborn is good and bad at the same time. It can get annoying, but I think a lot less would get done if it wasn't for stubborn people.
[Diarmuid pauses to take a bite of his spaghetti and then has to push White back when she tries to stick her nose into his plate.]
Don't White! You will end up all covered in red again!
[And he really doesn't want to have to give her a bath today.]
no subject
The thought of Steve's stubbornness brings him to some other things, though.]
It can get people in trouble. Steve was always getting into fights he couldn't win.
no subject
Then he sounds even more like Lion-O. Or at least how Lion-O was when we first met.
[Remind Kit to tell you about the time Lion-O had them charge out of the brambles to face a whole chunk of the Lizard army because 'Thundercats don't retreat'.]
He's gotten a lot better about it recently though.
[She sees White trying to stick her nose in Diarmuid's plate and giggles.]
No, White, that's not for you. Though I could give her some without the sauce, if that's OK?
[She glanced at Diarmuid for permission. It might get White to quit pestering him and potentially causing a mess at least.]
no subject
When he was 'little?' He still got out of them, though. People like that...they tend to find ways to get out of the trouble they get into okay.
[Be it because of help from others or smart thinking...
He looks toward Kit and nods at her.]
That is okay, but don't give her too much. She will still make a mess. Just watch!
no subject
Yeah.
[He doesn't bother to say he was the one to get him out of fights--it doesn't seem important to mention. He lapses into silence, eating his food as the kids' attention shifts to the puppy.]
