Save Our Parks! (OPEN)

Who: Everyone
Where: Mostly Districts 2 and 3
When: 20th September
Summary: In light of the new district reopening, there's still a lot to do! This log is open to everyone if they want to see what else is going on in the city, or help with some important tasks.
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. SOME NPC RESPONSES WILL BE SLOW UNTIL THE ONE WHO PLAYS THEM IS PRESENT.

I'm only happy when it rains...

Some of the natives have been busy. There's a little stand set up in the plaza that wasn't there before. They have minions, too: people with clipboards are assaulting recent arrivals on the street with requests. It seems that most of the employees are helping with the district reopening, and that means everyone else is incredibly understaffed.

But wait! Don't walk away! If your character helps with some of the chores around the city, they'll get a little money added to their stipend, as well as a coupon to the new store opening today in District 3.

District 2
Residents will be asked to help hang up tiny twinkling lights in the trees lining the streets, nothing so fancy as during the summer festival but something with lasting power throughout the oncoming rainfall. There are water fountains that need to be insulated, gigantic mountains of leaves that should be disposed of, and plants requiring trimming.

District 3
In addition to the winterization chores going on in the second district, the shopping district has their own problems to take care of. Large potted plants need to be moved inside-- that's a job for physically fit characters-- and little tents need to be taken down. Oh, and they need lights in the trees here, too.

New Store
There is a lot of excitable chattering surrounding the new store on the main shopping street. The sign is currently covered in plastic and unreadable.

Boxes
Near the water, groups of trees, or small parks, characters might stumble upon a group of canvas-covered boxes and someone desperately looking for help with them. There are a lot, after all.

[Pilouette looks at him. She wasn't so much carrying a flower pot as she was struggling to pick it up without dropping it. With a bit of huffing and puffing, she gives it up for the time being to answer him.]

O-Oh, uh, s-sure! I mean, I totally think I was really starting to get it, but...it'll probably be easier with a little help. ...Are you sure it's not like, a bother, though?

[He will continue to quietly observe her and the way she was struggling to carry the item. A small smile will form as he shakes his head.]

Not at all. It won't be any trouble and it will be an honor to help you. As I am accustomed to this type of work, I greatly enjoy it.

[Without another word, he will reach out and carry the heavy item without a second thought. Once he had a good hold on the item, he will turn towards the other girl.]

Where do you wish to carry this to, Miss?

[An honor, huh? She seems to keep running into guys like this around here. She smiles a bit herself, appreciative of the help. She's kind of impressed with how easily he pick up that flower pot, forgetting that her own strength is probably less than that of most people.

She gestures toward a nearby store.]

They asked me to move it in there. I got some of the little ones in myself, but...

Then I'll take the item to its proper place. Please, lead the way as I do not believe I will be able to open the door while holding this item in my hands.

[Even he needs help, but it does not bother him to ask for help from the other girl. Her unfinished sentence will have him feeling quite curious over what she wished to say.]

...is there anything else I can be of assistance to you today? I do not mind helping you with another chore that is need of doing. [All said with the friendliest of smiles.]

[She leads the way, feeling just a tiny bit disappointed with herself. She had been hoping to be able to help out on her own, but...well, it hadn't worked out so well. She moves quickly to open the door once the get to the storefront.]

O-Oh, um, well, I guess you could help me move some more of these plants. I thought I could get them, but I guess I didn't realize just how big they were...

[She smiles sheepishly with an awkward little laugh.]

[Soushi will happily allow himself to be lead around and asked where to place the item that was currently in his possession as he was not in charge of where everything would go, so he did not make any unnecessary moves unless told to do so.

At her explanation, Soushi's gaze will turn towards the other plants in the room, many bigger than the other, but he was not afraid of the work to be done. He will turn towards the young woman with another one of his smiles.]

Many of the plants do seem larger than the other. I am surprise you were able to move so many of them all ready. You must be quite strong.

[Heading towards one of the biggest potted plants in the room, Soushi will stretch his hands before turning his attention towards the other girl.]

Would it be all right if I asked for your assistance in lifting the much larger potted plants? [Then he adds:] Normally I would not ask if I had strength to move them, but even someone in my own position does need help every once in a while.

S-Strong? Me? [She smiles sheepishly and shakes her head.] N-No, I'm not really...I just moved some of the really little ones. A lot of them like, aren't even in this store...!

[However, when he asks for her help she nods firmly.]

Oh, like, totally! Even if I'm like, not really all that strong, I'm sure we'll be able to move of these big ones working together.

Nonetheless, you took the responsibility in offering your services to the natives of this world. It is more than enough to prove your true strength and character. I believe those two elements are most important in an individual.

[He will continue to smile before he begins to scan the store they were currently in. They needed an item to keep the door open if they were both going to work together in carrying the items. It won't be long until he finds an item thick enough to keep the door open while remain out of their way. Once he had done so, he will finally return his attention to her.]

Indeed. I believe we will have it all done before it gets too dark. Why do you not choose the first pot we should return to the store?

[She hadn't so much offered as it was she was asked and couldn't say no. However, she can't help but smile a bit at his praise, standing up just a little straighter. When prompted, she looks around outside and spots a relatively large flower pot just a bit bigger than the previous one but just a bit closer. She quickly scuttles over to it.]

What about this one? It's not as far as the last one, so it would be good to get it out of the way, right?

A wonderful notion.

[A nod of full agreement as he takes his position at the other side of the larger item.]

Yes, it would be best to do so. You are very clever and observant over this matter, Miss...?

[Clever? Observant? Hearing those words, her smile grows just a little brighter. She gives a quiet grunt of effort as they lift the flower pot.]

Uh, my name is Pilouette. Um, it's nice to meet you...!

[Lifting the pot along with her, he will look up at her and lightly nod.]

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintanceship, Pilouette-san. I am Soushi Miketsukami.

[Now somewhat leading her back to the shop by walking backwards.]

How long have you been in Saeng Seong for, if you don't my asking?

[She walks along with him, doing her best to hold up her part of the pot.]

Um...Well, I part of the first group to be brought here and that was back in June, so...A little over three months, I think. I actually thought I'd be back home before, now....

[Soushi will continue to lift the item alongside Pilouette, trying his best not to move too quickly while trying not too slow either. It might be best to reach the store before asking her any more questions.]

...it would seem as though we have been within this world in the same amount of time...

[There will be more pushing and more guiding until they finally enter the store.]

Do not lose hope over the matter. Sooner or later, your time will come. We will not remain here forever. [All said quite knowingly as he has seen those he cares for most in the world return home under his nose.

A small smile will appear as he looks around the store.]

Where do you wish to place this one?

[She takes a glance around the store, before nodding towards a spot near one of the corners.]

Maybe over there? A-And I know we won't be here forever...I guess it's just kind of worrying. I mean, like, they keeping bringing more people here. Like, just how much power do they need...?

[He will begin to head towards the corner of the room she pointed towards.]

Enough to fill an entire city...

[Once they were to the corner, he will lower the object down as a more serious expression appears.]

Sections of the city are beginning to appear before us at an extraordinary decelerate rate. It's clear the city is larger than we had first anticipated. The larger an area and more inhabited, the more energy is needed. [Her eyes widen just a little bit.]

But I thought the whole no touching sickness thing didn't affect them! So they'll get sick without being able to make energy...? And us touching them doesn't do anything...

[She reaches up to fiddle with her hair, frowning anxiously. Hearing that makes her feel a little bad about complaining about the situation. Even if he said he's not sure if it's true, it's enough to make her worry.]

If I understood the female doctor's words correctly, she made it quite clear over the natives being capable of falling ill from the same side-effects as we do. The only difference between us is -- we grow sicker in a more rapid rate.

[At least, when it came to the effects of the experiment gone wrong, they were growing sick while the natives were beginning to feel the side-effects as well. He isn't certain if the sickness they fall under every so often will affect them in the near future.]

To a certain extent, she admitted to it when I asked if it was possible for the natives to fall ill from outside forces as the ones we felt a few weeks ago from the scientists. When I asked over if the natives had their own medicine to cure themselves with, she did not answer.

[Pilouette can't help but feel very troubled by this. While they're not getting as sick as fast...the people who live here are still getting sick. Even worse, there doesn't seem to be a way to help them in that regard. At least not one that anyone will tell them about. From what Soushi is telling her, they don't even have a way to help themselves.

Her frown deepens a little bit.]

That...That's awful...! I guess the most we can do to help is keep trying to generate energy, but...

[She trails off, unsure of how to put the sudden worry she's feeling. As much as she complains about being in Saeng Seong, she really does want to help. But knowing that there's something that she can't help with at all...well.]

[Soushi will quickly notice the frown and thoughtful expression on her face. As much as he is not the most skilled in calming other people's concerns, he will decide to give it a try.]

It is as you have so thoughtfully said. Is it not more important to do what we know that will further aid the city than concern ourselves over the rest of the details?

[He will offer a smile.]

After all, we are slowly learning more about the city over time, I am certain we will learn the rest of the details when the time comes. All we need to do is continue to engross ourselves with our labor and do the best we can do. [Then he begins to wonder if he should admit his plans.] What are your current thoughts of a city wide picnic?

[She nods slowly. There's no point in worrying about not being able to do something instead of doing what she can.] I hope you're right. Knowing that kind of stuff...Well, I guess they really can't keep that stuff from us forever.

[She smiles a little when he brings up the idea of a picnic.]

A picnic does sound like a nice idea. A city-wide picnic, though...It sounds like a totally huge amount of work. [She pauses for a brief moment.] But I bet a lot of people would be really happy with it...!

That's right. It is only a matter of time. We only need to remain calm and observe the situation as closely as we are able to, and do what we must to help as many as we are able to. Always remember that important rule especially in a situation like this.

[As for his picnic idea, he will nod his head.]

Yes, it will indeed be a challenging feat, but I plan to make it a reality in the future. I would like to create a picnic as a way to help break the ice between the other individuals from different worlds. The idea of helping each other will be done if everyone is able to get better acquainted. Of course the natives will be invited to the festivities as a way to create some type of positive relationship between us. Those are the goals I wish to accomplish by organizing this event. Other than food and drinks, what type of activities should I prepare? Activities that will offer the chance to touch without making it awkward, do you have any thoughts?

[She nods firmly at his words. As much as she's always wanted to be useful and helpful...she forgets that sometimes, especially because of the situation. But she can't just sit around complaining when there are things she can do to help others.

She listens to his plans, smiling a bit. A giant picnic to create a better relationship between everyone...! She thinks for a moment.]

Activities...? W-Well, I know a few people have mad big games of tag. People might like that, um, e-even if it's kind of a kid game. [Because she's way too totally mature for that ~~no she's not~~.]

O-Or maybe some other kinds of sports would be good? Since people like tag, maybe Red Rover would be good. Or capture the flag or something...It would depend on the season, too, though wouldn't it?

[Soushi will begin to take mental notes of the many suggestions offered as he was serious over the idea in wanting to help others pair up or create new bonds to keep them from falling ill and helping the city further.]

I did hear over the activity being planned for a city wide game of the sport. [Yes, he will call it a "sport" to help make it sound more mature.] Capture the flag is another wonderful idea as well. [However.] I do apologize, but I am not familiar with the concept of Red Rover. What is it about?

[As for the season proposal, Soushi will begin to realize the change of season, so she did have a point over the matter.] That is another matter to contemplate over as well. I am still uncertain over the best time to initiate my current idea. Summer has ended. Which season would be the best time for a picnic? Spring is a thought, but it is too distant in the future... [He will continue to ponder over it as he really was having a difficult time deciding especially when he did not know many suitable activities for autumn or winter.]

Red Rover...It's still kind of a kid's game. And I haven't even played it since like, elementary school, but...See, everyone separates into two teams and each team stand forms a chain by holding hands! Then, the two two teams stand far apart from eachother. Then one team will call someone from the other team and that person has to try to break the calling team's chain! If they do it they can take a person back to their team, but if they can't break it they join the first team. And they keep going until one team doesn't have anyone on it!

[She tilts her head thoughtfully.] Actually, it can get kind of rough if people get too into it, but I remember it being fun when I was a kid...[She takes a second to really think about it when he mentions the seasons...It is getting colder, evidenced by the task they've currently undertaken.]

Spring is usually the best time, but...like you said, that's a long time from now. Autumn might work...I mean, it's a little colder, but a lot of games can still be played in Autumn! Or...Well, there's probably not anywhere big enough to have the picnic indoors, is there...?
