But man was this girl intimidating, even if she was smoking hot. ...speaking of, he brings his gaze back up to her face again. No way is he going to get caught staring with his sister right here. No way.
"Hey, is there something else we can call you or do you just go by Demi-Fiend? Got any cute nicknames or anything?"
no subject
She frowns at Ren at the "cute nicknames" comment. Damn, doesn't her title command respect anymore? "You may call me Shura."
no subject
"Physical contact," she responds as she squeezes Shura's hand briefly, before letting go. With her medical gloves on, she seems solid--completely human. "We've been trying to keep the energy of this city going for quite some time, though for some reason...we can't do it alone, anymore."
It's very brief, but the gravity of the situation for her is quite apparent.
"...And do forgive my brother, Miss Shura. We still haven't completely house-trained him."
no subject
...and that's when Mai makes her comment about housebreaking. He pouts, his lower lip trembling. "Aww, Sis! That was mean! I was just being friendly."
no subject
"Human people."
A joke, clearly.
"What am I actually here for?" she asked, sweeping her arms open. Then she turned to Ren.
"Flattery will not make this better."
no subject
He didn't want to do much to arouse her anger more than he already had. He smiles at her apologetically from his place behind his sister.
"If you can kill a god," Not that he really approves, but hey, "That means you're really capable! And we need capable people. We don't know why our world is dying, we just know we need an outsider's help to do it. You'd have our eternal gratitude if you helped us."
...then he cracks a grin. "Hey, can't blame a guy for trying, can you? I can't help that you're really attractive."
...Ren no you were actually doing kind of okay with being serious up until that point.
no subject
Obviously, the elder sibling is just as amused at her little brothers antics as Shura is. Rolling her eyes, it's all she can do not to facepalm and move on to both affirm his previous statements and what exactly was going on.
"But he's right; we have no idea what's caused our world to slowly wither, and we do need capable people to help us.
...It may be our last resort."
no subject
"I think you're making a mistake," she tried to explain to Mai, since she seemed like the non-idiot of the two. "I'm much better at destroying than at creating. Anyone who knows me can see as much. I don't get how my touching people should generate anything but fear and hate."
no subject
(Even though he's hiding behind his older sister, even as he says that.)
"You were brought here because you've got the potential to save us. Fear and hate might just be masking that potential is all."
no subject
no subject
"Who is 'they', and how do I figure out that reason?" Sigh. Maybe the way out is to save these people as fast as possible.
no subject
He smiles. "As for the reason, that'll come with time. Don't people always figure out their reasons for being somewhere as they go along? We were looking for someone who had the potential to save us; you're one of those people, but if there's a more specific reason for it being you, you'll figure it out, I'm sure of it!"

It'd be a lie to say his face didn't fall a little at "girlfriend" though. Sigh, of course Shura was taken. She was a bombshell! ...and so Ren's quest for love continues...
no subject
"I see. I hope it's true."
She then looked at the content of her envelope again. Keys to an apartment, uh. Well. She might as well go check that out.
"Where's... building one?"
no subject
no subject
"I guess you can."
no subject
Then he beams at Shura. "So, what is it you do back home? Other than, uh, having a girlfriend and an army and killing gods and stuff."
no subject
"I'm afraid it's most of what I do. My world ended. If you wanted to insist, I could say that I protect a race of human-like beings by killing gods."
no subject
no subject
no subject
"Wow! I mean, it sucks that the world ended and the humans died and all that stuff, but the Manikins sound really neat. So they're made of clay, but they're still alive?"
no subject
"Yes. Since they're almost human, they're a great source of magatsuhi. That's why they're enslaved and tortured by demons to extract their magatsuhi. I want to make all this cruelty stop." The plan involves killing God.
no subject
Now Ren's looking a tad bit confused, though he doesn't slow his steps. He's got a job to do showing her around, after all! "So where you're from, it's the gods that are in charge of demons? I thought it was usually that gods were against demons and stuff. Wouldn't the gods be mad about what the demons are doing?"
