District Five, District Fun!

Who: EVERYONE!
Where: Newly opened District 5.
When: February 1st
Summary: A new district up and running, a new opportunity for shenanigans!
Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk.

A change comes in the evening, as the barricades in the fourth and third districts are carefully disassembled and put aside. What's more, a quick broadcast goes up across the network:

'The Fifth District has been opened; all are welcome to explore, this time.'

And sure enough, everyone can easily come and go this time around; there's no doctors or equipment on hand. And by the time the sun goes down and the passages are fully open, the new district is lighting up. And the glow from the lights is bright enough to chase some of the chill out of the night and leave the neighborhood open for exploration.

There's plenty of buildings, mostly catering towards entertainment of some sort (and even a few movie theaters, and a hot springs and zoo closer to the fourth district) but the real hub is along the river. That's where the boardwalk can be found. It stretches from the city wall to the border of the fourth district, and is lined with shops, features an aquarium, and at the southern most end contains an amusement park. Complete with a ferris wheel that is well lit up and shining bright against the sky as the sun sets.

Welcome to the fifth district.

Aquarium

In the same area of the boardwalk, and featuring plenty of fish tanks. And an otterdillo exhibit! The aquarium also has a major exhibit in the form of a giant underwater tunnel, complete with benches and a moving walkway. And plenty of colorful fish swimming about to the sides or overhead.

[Crystal's taken up sitting on one of the benches in the tunnel, marveling at the marine life. There's something like this in the planning stages in Unova, or so she's heard gossiped about by trainers eager to tour the regions...

Aside from that, she'll be walking around and especially straying towards the otterdillo exhibit especially. Weird animal? More like 'I can imagine this being from my world.']

[ahh, the aquarium, a place where England could get close to water without needing to worry about drowning. finally, Saeng Seong had done something useful, and fun. it was here that England could see just how different this world was from his own. what strange creatures. otterdillos, seasloths, orangufish... such sea critters weren't found anywhere on earth!

he wanders through the tube with his hands in his coat pockets, feeling rather serene with the water around him. that's when he notices the girl. her familiar face popped up on the Network recently]

[Ah, yes. Stage two of her public message: regret. Only a small bit, since she did manage to get a date... and find some potential hobbies... and met some new people... It wasn't all bad, even if she's still feeling a little embarrassed over it.]

I think so. Basketball isn't too hard, and Yuna's really nice. [Her upper body strength is pretty normal, compared to her legs, so the whole "shooting" aspect is a little tougher than expected... but she'll grow past it. Practice, practice, practice!] Everything else I've tried has been good too, actually.

Basketball? [England smiles, friendly. he doesn't want to intrude, so if Crys feels uncomfortable, he'll be on his way] It's probably a good idea to stay active around here. I'm glad you were able to find something to keep you busy.

Me too. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't find something soon. [She's gotta be busy and then just... wean herself off of it. She can't quit the busy life cold turkey, yanno!] I wish I had thought of sports sooner. Maybe when it gets warmer, I'll try out football. I'm definitely better at kicking things than I am with throwing.

[Or soccer, for the Americanly-inclined.]

[Yuna's been exploring around the new district too, but stops when she sees Crystal sitting there on the bench.]

[Oh, her date! Or -- earlier date, she'll amend. She hadn't quite thought they'd be meeting again so soon. Crystal smiles, giving a wave.]

Hi there! Checking out the new district? [Duh. Stupid question.] I mean -- have you seen anything you liked in it? The aquarium's really lovely, and I heard there's hot springs too, but I haven't checked them out yet.

I don't know a whole lot about fish, but that otterdillo thing they have is pretty cute.

[Yuna laughs a little.]

You've gotta check out the hot springs, though. There's nothing like a nice hot outdoor bath whenever you want.

[ooc: I got it!! I just also ended up asking my castmates if their characters would try to dress Crys up for her date so I've been waiting on what their characters would suggest for her to wear to it before I tag... I was gonna assume it went well too \o\]

I know at least one of my friends is going to enjoy it. He's just like an Aipom. [Affectionate sigh! Dumb boys. Really.] It's still pretty cold though, isn't it... Aren't you cold when you get out?

How did they do that? How?

[The excited squeak comes from the little boy behind Crystal who is practically plastered against the glass wall of the tunnel.]

What is that? What is it? It's so cute!

[Welp, someone is probably going to be here for the rest of the day getting handprints and fingerprints and probably nose prints too all over the glass unless someone stops him.]

[WHOOPS gentle tugging, she's going to coax him off of the glass. It's bad manners to get smudges all over new exhibits, even if they'll probably get cleaned up...]

It is pretty cute, isn't it? [It's exciting too!! She knows just how he feels.] As for how they do it... hmm. I guess it's like a giant tank, except with a space around the bottom so people can walk through. That sounds about right, right?

A giant tank? But how do they make something so big?

[Diarmuid pulls against her a little bit since he doesn't really want to move away from the glass, but he doesn't fight too hard. He's just as excited to talk about the new cool tunnel as he is to look at it.]

Do you know what all these animals are? Are they like your Pokemon friends?

[So many questions, so little time! She's not sure how they do it - she's no architect - so she clears her throat and moves onto the topic she does have some familiarity with.]

I don't, and I'm not sure. I might ask the handlers about them when I get the time, but until then I'm just going to have to assume they're like the animals that are around the city. Except more, uh... [Cue a sharktopus swimming overhead.] ...Varied in appearance?

[Cu Chulainn comes zipping through the tunnel, waving his arms like he's swimming.]

Miss Crystal!

[He comes "swimming" over.]

Look! I'm underwater! With all the animals too!

[Cute x2, she can't believe this.]

I didn't know you could breathe underwater! [She's 100% prepared to play along with this. Maybe not to the extent that she'll wiggle her arms like she's floating in the water, but...] Be careful, though. There might be Sharpedo around, and their favorite food are little fish.

It must be magic! Good magic to let us play with the fishes!

[He looks back and forth, playing at being alert and on the lookout for monsters.]

Don't worry! I'm a strong little fish! I'll beat up any sharpedo that tries to hurt me! Or you, Lady Crystal!

[This is definitely why she likes working with children so much. So, so much.]

Thanks, Cucuc. My team and I will look out for you too! [Speaking of, she can at least let her Parasect out. Her newest addition, by a month or so, that's been liking the warmth of her appartment more than the chill outside. Bug/Grass-types are so difficult sometimes.] Parasee's very brave, so she'll charge in if it looks like you're in too much danger.

Open, in the aquarium!

It's a beautiful day, the water in the aquarium is pristine, the fish are swimming around in the big tank and under water tunnel...

...And there is a green skinned mermaid swimming with them as well. She pauses occasionally to look around, her hair floating up and showing the gills in her neck to be working just fine. And she's grinning, so she must be having a good time using her tail to swim with the fish, and-

And is she really-?

Yes, she in fact is humming a certain song to herself that might just be audible through a telepathic channel.

Floating along next to her, with a rebreather in his mouth and sans cape, is Robin, and he's singing rather loudly in her head, an alternative.

He's also got a bag quickly filling with seashells and seaweed specimens. We are learning!

'You know, this was a really good idea.' M'gann floats next to him, still smiling as she looks around and enjoys the water. And the fish of course; so many colors, shapes...It's all more than a little dazzling, and even reminiscent of Atlantis in some ways. 'It's a lot harder to go swimming in the river in this weather. This though...This is really nice!'

Though she has to pause at the bag of seashells, tilting her head.

'Are...We sure this is okay, though?'

Granted they haven't gotten in trouble YET.

'I think as long as we don't disturb anything, we're good,' he said. 'What's really cool is that telepathy means we can talk. I'm neither Atlantean nor a science geek, but there's just... such a vast variety of things.'

He turns a somersault as he paddles down a little deeper. 'Plus the simulation of zero-G. You and Kaldur and Wonder Woman get to experience this freedom every day...'

He sounds wistful. Skill sets and childhood nicknames aside, there's a reason he doesn't fight the bird imagery.

Junpei had been enjoying exploring the new district; looking at cool places, checking out the boardwalk, looking for places that would be good hang outs or awesome date ideas; but after seeing the movie at the theater wasn't to his state (really, a sappy animal movie? Who goes to see those?), he ended up in the under water tunnel.

"Man, this would be an awesome place for a da--"

Wait, what was that he saw out of the corner of his eye?
