Who's that pokemon?

Who: Cu Chulainn and Diarmuid
Where: Apartment 3

Summary: Cu Chulainn meets the new pokemon

[Diarmuid had gotten his hands on a big, strange egg. Cu Chulainn wasn't too sure what the egg was, even though Diarmuid had told him it was a pokemon egg. He had still tried to eat it at first, before Diarmuid stopped him and confiscated the egg. For several hours on end, Diarmuid had taken care of it, but it showed no sign of hatching. Cu Chulainn was starting to get a little annoyed at it.]

[Then at night, it had suddenly hatched into a strange creature, almost like a cross between a horse and a fish. Now, Cu Chulainn was glad that he hadn't tried to eat it. Of course, it was so tiny and delicate that Diarmuid did most of the handling. But Cu Chulainn was excited about getting to play with it in the morning.]

[Come morning, Cu Chulainn woke up late to fine his brother and the new pokemon gone. Not knowing where his brother had gone or what he was doing with the egg, Cu Chulainn sulks, lying down on his stomach in the living room. The puppies, first White and then Grey, clamber onto him, forming a dogpile. There they remain, not moving except for the puppies occasionally pawing at each other's faces. Only when they hear the squeaking of the door do they turn around.]

But he's not a Mann, he's a pokemon!

[Okay, that's a bad joke and even Diarmuid seems to realize it. It still makes him giggle, though.]

What about Lir? That is Manannan Mac Lir's father's name and it's nice and short! He's also a god of the sea!

[Never mind it can also be confused with the name of an attack Horsea can learn...]

[He laughs alongside his brother.]

That's right! He's not a man. But Lir would be a good name for him.

[A pause.]

Hey, what are sea gods like anyway? I've never seen them before. Or the sea.

No worries! :-)

[smallspot]

[Diarmuid looks down at his horsea with a smile.]

What do you think? Do you want to be called Lir?

[Horsea happily squirms in Diarmuid's arms and lets out a series of trumpeting sounds.]

I think he likes it! Lir he is!

[The boy pauses then to think on his brother's questions.]

I haven't actually met them. Just Father has, but Manannan Mac Lir must be nice if he gave Father my weapons, right? And the sea is like every other part of nature. It is beautiful and dangerous and necessary for life. I hope you get to see it soon. Everyone should!

[beforetights]

Yay! Lir!

[He tries to reach to pat Horsea, but finds that his hands are stuck together from when he had clapped earlier.]

...Brother, can you help? I can't move my hands.

[smallspot]

Oh no! The honey. Just a minute!

[Diarmuid looks around and finally runs some water in the sink so he can put Lir into it. The horsea makes a happy squeak to be in water again and then Diarmuid grabs a towel, wets it, and moves to his brother's side.]

Okay! Lets see if we can get your hands apart! Let me pull on one and you pull on the other.

[beforetights]

[He holds his hands out.]

Which one do you wanna pull on?

[smallspot]

I will take this one!

[Diarmuid takes a hold of Cu Chulainn's right hand and then braces himself to pull.]

Whenever you are ready, brother!

[beforetights]

Okay. Let's pull now.

[He grunts as he tries to pull his left hand off of his right. As he does, the honey and dough stretch out into a long strip.

[smallspot]

[Diarmuid laughs as he pulls back on his brother's other hand.]

Look at that! Look at that! Now we are making noodles instead of cakes!

[beforetights]

Yes! And it's a long noodle! It must be the longest noodle in the world.

[As the "noodle stretches, White comes in and heroically bites it in two, yanking off a short segment to chew on.]

Yay! White saved me! She's the big hero today!

[If he didn't still have gunk on his hands, he would pet her.]

[Grey yips happily as if to congratulate his sister and then moves over to smell the dough White has so heroically saved their owners from. He doesn't take any to chew on, though. Could it be there is actually one creature in the apartment who doesn't have a sweet tooth?]

Honey noodles sound just as good as honey cakes. Do you think there is such a thing besides what we just made? If not, we should name them after White since she saved us. White's Honey Noodles! That sounds really good! Do you think others will like it?

[beforetights]

[He shakes his head.]

I've only ever seen honey cakes, not honey noodles! How do you even bake a noodle?

[He goes to grab the bowl of batter.]

But I think everyone will like them if they taste like honey cakes! And we can name them after White and give them to everyone.

[smallspot]

Wait! Wipe your hands before you grab the bowl so they don't stick!

[Diarmuid holds the towel out to his brother, then he shakes his head.]

I don't know how you bake a noodle. I don't think it's done in an oven like a cake is. Maybe we can ask someone? I really want to make the noodles sometime so we can do that. It would be a great gift to give people!

[beforetights]

[He nods and wipes his hands twice on the towel.]

Maybe we can. Do you know if Lord Gold or Lady Crystal will know how to make honey noodles?

[smallspot]

I don't, but we should ask them! They know a lot, so they might know that too!

[Diarmuid takes the towel back one his brother is done wiping his hands.]

That reminds me! Lady Crystal said that Lir likes eating things like bugs and moss so we need to get some of that for him. He can eat other things too, but those are his favorites!

[beforetights]

[He picks up the bowl now.]

I think we can find some in the parks! A lot of bugs, at least.

[A curious expression comes onto his face.]

Do you think bugs and moss really taste good? Can we try some after we get enough for Lir?

[smallspot]

I...don't know how they taste. I've never had any before.

[He frowns slightly.]

We probably should ask people about it first. I bet some bugs can make people sick just like some plants can. It's too bad there isn't a druid here we can ask! Maybe Lady Crystal will know if we talk to her?

Lir might be able to get most of what he needs himself, I think. Lady Crystal said I should take him to the lake everyday or make him an aquarium here at the apartment.

[beforetights]

[He scratches his head, causing some dough bits to be stuck in his hair.]

Maybe she'll know. She always seems to know what to feed to her pokemon.

What's an aquarium? Can't we just keep him in the sink and the tub?

[smallspot]

Remember the new place with the big tunnel that has all the water and fish and other animals in it?

[Diarmuid gestures with his hands over his head in the shape of an overhead tunnel.]

That is an aquarium. A really big aquarium! Lir wouldn't need something that big, but an aquarium is permanent and we wouldn't have move Lir every time we need the tub or sink.

[beforetights]

Oh yes, I remember! That was a fun place! I bet Lir would love to live in one. We can put it in White and Grey's room.

[smallspot]

He would! I don't think he can, but that is why I want to get him an aquarium of his own if we can.

[Diarmuid falls quiet to think for a moment.]

We will need a lot of room. It will have to be big! I don't know how fast Lir will grow, but his mother is big!

[beforetights]

[He opens the oven, grabs a sheet, and dumps the dough on it in one big lump. He would've put the bowl in, but it couldn't fit on the bottom layer of the oven.]

Hm...then we need a room with more space! Which one of our rooms works for that?

[smallspot]

I'm not sure. Maybe we should go look once the cake is done?

[Diarmuid doesn't say while it is cooking because he is afraid if they stop watching it, they will end up with another fire.]

How about a place in the living room?

[beforetights]

The living room sounds good. As long as it won't block the door.

[He sets the oven to the highest mode.]

...But what do we do while the biscuit is baking?

[smallspot]

Oh no! We definitely don't want it to block the door!

[Diarmuid shakes his head and as he does, his eyes fall on Lir who is splashing around in the water for all he is worth.]
