Operation Reignition

Who: Anyone who wants to participate in the event!
Where: Assorted places in and around District 3!
When: Sunday afternoon (the 30th)
Summary: POWER IT UP AND GO SHOPPING.
Warnings: None.

By late morning, it's obvious that there's something going on down by the bridges to District 3. Even if you missed the announcement on the network, it's pretty obvious that something is going to happen; townspeople mill about with interest as people set up tables. Irene and Mai are roaming the area, Mai mostly sticking to the medical teams standing by while Irene organizes the rest of the group. Keener eyes might spy one of the brothers responsible for the network, slipping off into the Third District through gates that stand open, but still guarded against any visitors who might attempt to approach before things are ready to go.

Off to one side, there's a shaded area, tents and a few chairs where visitors can wait to be allowed entry. There's a table full of water bottles and light snacks tucked up against the wall, to fortify you against the heat of the afternoon - and it is warm, and only going to get warmer. The natives seem to have accepted the baking sun as the normal way of things, but be careful that you don't get heatstroke.

At about half an hour past noon, someone brings out a little podium and sets it in front of the gate. Irene climbs up on it, holding a microphone in front of her mouth - her voice echoes from a number of speakers set up through the area.

"Alright, could I have my first group of volunteers over here, please? We've got your instructions ready for you to enter the district."

Looks like it's showtime. Are you ready?

His name is Diarmuid. He's older than me and he's already training to be a knight! He's got a sword and everything!

[He quickly shakes his head at Deadlock's answer.]

Silly. All heroes need friends to watch their backs. That's how they win their wars.

Let me guess. He's always 'cheerful' and 'happy' and optimistic.

[He nods.]

You're right! And he's very gentle and nice and mature and polite and very, very smart. He always helps me when I don't know about things and tells me when I'm doing something wrong.

[Can you hear the adulation oozing out of his voice, Deadlock?]

Well, that's one way to win. But when you and your friend kill enemies together, it's supposed to be more fun.

[That gets a narrow-eyed look.]

Yes, of course I do. It's like being with my friends back home. Only he doesn't tease me half so much.

[He falls silent for a moment.]

I know! You can come be friends with me and my fried! And when we're bigger, we can all go kill Autobots together.

What else do you do, then.

[Please dear Primus there has to be some good news. Hugging, being 'friends'. Eurgh. But Wing had said he was bored, so....yeah, maybe.]

Oh, he's been teaching me to use his sword. And I'm gonna teach him how to hunt.

Because maybe it's a trap. Why do we suddenly need to go some place to do this, when we didn't have to before?

Because they didn't need so much energy before?

[Is it rude to facepalm? Well, then, Deadlock might just have to be rude. ]

You keep trusting everyone and it's gonna get you hurt some day.

[He snorts.]

If it's a trap, they might be surprised how much I don't like traps.

[As in 'not like with a helicopter of fists'.]

I don't wanna spend too much time doubting people. That's what cowards do.

...But if it's a trap, I don't like it either.

[driftlock]

[NONSENSE! Deadlock doubts everyone. ]

Just...take care of yourself. Don't let them win.

[beforetights]

[He nods.]

You take care of yourself too, Sir Deadlock.

[His expression turns very serious.]

We can't let them win. If they really are our enemies, then we have fight like real Decepticon heroes would. And we won't die easy! Promise me that, Sir Deadlock!

[driftlock]

Never heard of Papafergusduh.

[What kind of stupid name is that, anyway?]

[You hurt his face, Cu Chulainn, because he's never been proud of anything before. He would hug you, except, well, he's Deadlock.]

Damn straight. [Decepticon heroes. He likes the sound of that.]

I won't die easy. Better not to die at all, though. [That is a hint for you blue haired weirdo.]

I'll survive. I've definitely survived some bad stuff already. After all, I've killed a monster dog before.

[He beams at Deadlock.]

[There is something seriously off about this kid: Deadlock recognizes this because he realizes that he is the very LAST person a kid should look up to.]

What's a monster dog?

[He sounds like he's ready to be impressed.]

Well, you know what a dog is, right? Or have you not heard of that either? It's an animal. It has four legs. And usually it's really friendly but the monster dog was mean. It was big and black and had glowing red eyes and a huge mouth and very big teeth like spears. It tried to eat me, but I whacked my hurley ball down its throat and it died.

[He's beaming at the memory.]
