Operation Reignition
Who: Anyone who wants to participate in the event!
Where: Assorted places in and around District 3!
When: Sunday afternoon (the 30th)
Summary: POWER IT UP AND GO SHOPPING.
Warnings: None.
By late morning, it's obvious that there's something going on down by the bridges to District 3. Even if you missed the announcement on the network, it's pretty obvious that something is going to happen; townspeople mill about with interest as people set up tables. Irene and Mai are roaming the area, Mai mostly sticking to the medical teams standing by while Irene organizes the rest of the group. Keener eyes might spy one of the brothers responsible for the network, slipping off into the Third District through gates that stand open, but still guarded against any visitors who might attempt to approach before things are ready to go.
Off to one side, there's a shaded area, tents and a few chairs where visitors can wait to be allowed entry. There's a table full of water bottles and light snacks tucked up against the wall, to fortify you against the heat of the afternoon - and it is warm, and only going to get warmer. The natives seem to have accepted the baking sun as the normal way of things, but be careful that you don't get heatstroke.
At about half an hour past noon, someone brings out a little podium and sets it in front of the gate. Irene climbs up on it, holding a microphone in front of her mouth - her voice echoes from a number of speakers set up through the area.
"Alright, could I have my first group of volunteers over here, please? We've got your instructions ready for you to enter the district."
Looks like it's showtime. Are you ready?
((ooh; Event start! OOC information can be found here and here.))

Re: MINGLE
He doesn't recognize any of the other names in generator group 3, so for now he's just standing around the edge of the crowd doing his best to mingle in general, smiling and trying to be as approachable but also unassuming as possible. It's harder than you'd think. That's the worst part: he's really got no issue with this physical contact thing, but given his stature and sheer volume of angular surfaces? Yeah he thinks it's better for smaller, more bruisable people to come to him rather than the other way around.

Truth be told he was just a little disappointed he hadn't been assigned into one of the groups working on the main generators but that didn't mean he wasn't going to go into District 3. There were plenty of small generators to tackle supposedly. Still, those nearby possibly would notice the slight pout on his lips between sips of water.
Now if only he could figure out where in the district to go and who with?
Poor America. Want to have him and Vexen explore together a bit?
Sure! Where would you prefer to explore?
Not picky :D
How about the market area near the mall? They can check out the otherworldly veggies.

GENERATOR 1
If one looks around, they may even see a few posters on the outer walls as they pass on their way to locate the generator. However, they seem to have been there for quite some time, and while you are able to read much of the text, the names and release dates for them have blurred beyond recognition due to being exposed to the elements for so long.
There are also a handful of warehouses open for them to peer into, however, they all appear empty save a few boxes and crates. All, save one cylindrical building in the midst of them...

The slight tug of weakness, well, that she just ignores. She'll live. And after this it should go away anyway.

Re: GENERATOR 1
His attention is fully caught between his handheld computer and the building ahead of him. There's the brutal possibility that he won't learn a thing, but if he can just spend some time with the generator he's sure he'll reach some conclusions.
Probably bad ones.

He's still used to the tower and Middle Earth, so the warehouses get a curious and careful look from the elf as they pass by, a bit of suspicion clear in his eyes.

GENERATOR 2
Yet it is an abandoned bus stop that likely catches your eye - one of the first signs of public transport that could be noted in the city. Beyond that is a police station that seems well-maintained due to its close proximity to the stores. Who knows what could be found there? But then, one could likely ask for lawyer contacts if you're really that mad about a sudden paid-for vacation...
no subject
Someone clearly is somewhat in her element as she looks into the storefronts on their way to the generators, fingers pressed to her chin thoughtfully. Deep down, she's hoping that whatever they have to do to power the generators won't be too terribly embarrassing, but she's also completely ready to threaten her entire 'team' into submission if they think about blabbing about any of it. At the very least, she doesn't look particularly cross despite the fact that her clothes can't be at all helping to ward off the heat- it's really lucky she's used to all kinds of terrain at this point, otherwise she might be an absolute terror.
She's draining the bottle of water she's brought with her a little quickly though- she'd better hope there will be more around the generator.

and hunt for treasure chests, but he had to stay focused. They had a job to do! And...well, he'd probably get lost if he didn't stick with the group, plus the quick progression of withdrawal symptoms here made being stuck by himself sound like a bad idea.Still, if he couldn't explore, he could at least get some conversation going.]
How are we supposed to charge these generators, anyway?

He gives a yawn, bored and tired eye leaking one tear, before he catches sight of that one bus stop nearby. Any group members will find him pressing his foot against the side of the bus, frowning.]
Oh, that's perfect. [Scowling, mumbling.] Walking all this way to help power up the one thing that would've made getting here a lot easier. They're getting back at me. Knew it.

...he'll explore it later once the generator is back on. He may have not replied to the message from Irene over the network but he did see it. Speaking of that, he couldn't stop to go sightseeing because he already could feel the uneasiness settling in his body. Or perhaps it was the heat. Either way, he's armed with a water bottle and some snacks tucked away in his pockets so he would feel a little relieved.
GENERATOR 3
Hidden behind the cafe, however, is the source of their search - a cylindrical building, made of the same material as the surrounding buildings, not very noteworthy in and of itself, except for the large sign in front of it.
no subject
He feels a bit bad for talking Deadlock into joining him only to be separated, but well, maybe their natures made them a bit better for this? If so, it made sense to split them up. The knight just hopes group one is weathering Deadlock's crusty personality all right without Wing there as a buffer.
"If any of you are feeling undue weakness, please speak up." It's not a command but a soft-spoken suggestion. And an offer. Wing has no issue with touching, being touched or even offering a ride to smaller individuals. He has strong shoulders willing to bear any type of burden.

EXPLORATION: OLD DOWNTOWN
The main roadway itself can be explored, as well as any of the smaller ones branching off of it. Also available for exploration nearby is the convention center, a towering building compared to most of the nearby shops. Take a look around, you never know what you'll find.
no subject
At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much here, but he searches the streets thoroughly and curiously, ducking into the shops and down the numerous side streets. As time passes, he begins to feel a bit sick and a bit exhausted, but he ignores the feeling and keeps exploring.
When he reaches the convention center, he pauses, looking up at it, then decides he might as well try to go inside.]

EXPLORATION: MALL VICINITY
For the open shops, however, their wares seem to be more up-to-date than some of the other areas, as well. If you want, you can also explore around the outdoor marketplace - which seems to be having a slow day, given all the activity - and the mall itself which happens to be closed. That part's a pity at least, but there's still plenty to find, for those who look.
no subject
However, that is not how things had turned out. Still as he watches his friend head off with his group. the small boy is already planning what he is going to do. After all, he and Cu Chulainn are having a competition and if he just sits here and waits for the other boy to come back, he will lose. The last thing he wants to do is lose especially since it is a story telling competition! He has to go and have an adventure, so he can tell his friend all about what he did. It will be even more exciting than fixing a generator. He knows it! He just has to be brave enough to start.
After his friend's group disappears from sight, Diarmuid hops to his feet and runs off in the a direction away from where his friend's group had gone. They are also scouting the area so it won't do to go the same way as his friend had. He doesn't stop running until he is a good way into the outdoor marketplace. Only then does he stop to look around in awe.
Where exactly should he start looking for adventure?

EXPLORATION: WAREHOUSES
There's also what can be found in between the buildings themselves. It might not seem like much - more boxes and a fair bit of garbage, but who knows where you might find clues about the city?
no subject
He walks quietly between the warehouses, doing his best to remain undetected. When he sees an abandoned one, he sneaks in and sifts through what's been left behind. The guarded, active warehouses present more of a problem. If Natalia were here, the two of them might be able to get inside, but Kerry has no idea how to deal with those locks. He frowns. He wishes he were better at this kind of thing. It's frustrating. If only he'd been able to learn more techniques before coming here. There's still so much he doesn't know.
He's so caught up in investigating that he hardly notices as he grows weaker and weaker--until he suddenly sinks to his knees outside one of the abandoned warehouses. He's so tired. Surely it wouldn't hurt if he rested for a little bit? Just until he feels better. He curls up and closes his eyes.
