Operation Reignition
Who: Anyone who wants to participate in the event!
Where: Assorted places in and around District 3!
When: Sunday afternoon (the 30th)
Summary: POWER IT UP AND GO SHOPPING.
Warnings: None.
By late morning, it's obvious that there's something going on down by the bridges to District 3. Even if you missed the announcement on the network, it's pretty obvious that something is going to happen; townspeople mill about with interest as people set up tables. Irene and Mai are roaming the area, Mai mostly sticking to the medical teams standing by while Irene organizes the rest of the group. Keener eyes might spy one of the brothers responsible for the network, slipping off into the Third District through gates that stand open, but still guarded against any visitors who might attempt to approach before things are ready to go.
Off to one side, there's a shaded area, tents and a few chairs where visitors can wait to be allowed entry. There's a table full of water bottles and light snacks tucked up against the wall, to fortify you against the heat of the afternoon - and it is warm, and only going to get warmer. The natives seem to have accepted the baking sun as the normal way of things, but be careful that you don't get heatstroke.
At about half an hour past noon, someone brings out a little podium and sets it in front of the gate. Irene climbs up on it, holding a microphone in front of her mouth - her voice echoes from a number of speakers set up through the area.
"Alright, could I have my first group of volunteers over here, please? We've got your instructions ready for you to enter the district."
Looks like it's showtime. Are you ready?
((ooh; Event start! OOC information can be found here and here.))

I promise I will be careful! And knights always keep their promises! I want my story to have a happy ending and it won't be very happy if I get hurt!
[He looks down, expression saddening. As much as he wants to have as interesting a story to tell as his friend, he knows it probably won't happen. If he doesn't find someone to go with him, he won't go in very far just because he doesn't know what will happen and it would be foolish to tempt forces he doesn't understand. In that way, perhaps it is better that it's him not in a group than his friend. Diarmuid might have only known Cu Chulainn for a month or so now, but he can already tell the other boy doesn't think about things as much as he should before doing them.
Diarmuid seems to take a deep breath to set himself and then looks up at Legolas.]
You have to promise too! I know you are going in a group, but you need to be careful. I don't want your story to end with you getting hurt either!
no subject
Good. So long as you're careful, I'll not worry.
[Brushing a hand through his hair, careful not to muss it, Legolas smiles. However faint it is, it's there and his eyes seem a little lighter than they had that first day.]
You've my promise that I'll be safe. That's why I'm going after all, to keep them safe.
[Sort of. He needed to get out and do something useful. This was it. He wouldn't be reckless though.]
no subject
I promise! I don't want you to worry. You have an important job to do and you need to focus on that so no one gets hurt!
[Diarmuid notices the small smile and can't help but smile himself. In fact, his butterfly launches itself from somewhere and flies a few happy circles around Legolas' head.]
And maybe sometime afterward you can show me all the stuff I can't go see now? When it's not dangerous anymore?
no subject
[He laughs at the butterfly, resisting the urge to swat at it.]
I'll be glad to exploring with you. Perhaps we can find a few others to join us and make a day of it. Would you like that?
no subject
Yes! Yes! Can we please? It would be so much fun!
no subject
[And he can get his dad to go out and about. It could do them both some good.]
no subject
[The boy brings a small hand to his mouth in thought.]
Everyone will be tired too. We should probably wait until they aren't so tired anymore, right? It won't be much fun if everyone is tired.
no subject
[He pauses and then smirks.]
It will give us more time to find a good group to explore with in a few days as well.
no subject
[Diarmuid giggles.]
If he pays attention to where anything is...
no subject
That will be wonderful. If he can't though, we'll see what we can do about finding a map.
no subject
[Diarmuid excitedly points off in a random direction.]
And only stop once we reach some kind of end. Then we just pick another direction and start again!
[That sounds like a great way to get lost actually...]
no subject
And then how will we find our way back so young knights can get their rest?
no subject
[Diarmuid tries to think of a good answer to that, but after a few moments he has to give up in defeat and go with his default answer to questions he doesn't know the answer to.]
Magic! We can use magic!
[...]
no subject
[What?]
Can you use magic?
[He's never met anyone, aside from Gandalf (and assorted Istari) that could do so.]
no subject
[The boy points at himself and then shakes his head.]
Not unless asking my butterfly to do stuff counts! Father can use magic. So can Druid Roc, but I can't. There are lots of people around here. I just thought someone might come who can!
You can't use magic, Legolas?
(OOC: If RL cooperates, I am hoping to do a log for Diarmuid by the end of this coming week. Would you like me to throw a prompt in there for everyone to go exploring in the 3rd District or would you like to handle it some other way?)
no subject
[Grinning and then the elf shakes his head as well.]
Elves have certain skill in Arts but nothing that would be called magic.
(ooc: That'll work!)
no subject
[The boy nods to himself as if making a mental note.]
Arts? Like songs and storytelling? Or making things? That is a different kind of magic, but it is magic as well! What kind of Arts are you good at, Legolas?
(OOC: Yay!)
no subject
[Legolas tilts his head, eye falling shut, thinking before shaking his head.]
While we are very skill in those types of arts, we take great joy in them in fact. [Ah, this is hard to explain to not!elves.] I speak of the art of healing or similar skills unique to my kin and I.
no subject
Your people can heal, Legolas? Like true healing? With magic? Not even some of the most skilled Druid's from my home can do that! They all know healing plant lore, but magical healing is limited to a very few.
My father can heal like that. He doesn't do it very often because he has to kiss someone to do it...
[The boy giggles.]
..but that is different. He is a god! So it makes sense he can do things like that.
(OOC: Bitty log is up! Hopefully, the prompt is okay. Feel free to have Legolas reply whenever you feel like it. :-) )
no subject
[Legolas laughs softly with him.]
That's certainly a unique way of healing someone!
(OOC: Awesome!)
no subject
Those who focus all their energy on healing are the ones who are the best at it! Causing injury is much different from healing it... Yes, it makes sense fighters would not be as good at healing. But that is okay. Both jobs are important!
My father is a god of love and youth and poetry! It makes sense he heals that way even if it is a little weird sometimes.
