Operation Reignition

Who: Anyone who wants to participate in the event!
Where: Assorted places in and around District 3!
When: Sunday afternoon (the 30th)
Summary: POWER IT UP AND GO SHOPPING.
Warnings: None.

By late morning, it's obvious that there's something going on down by the bridges to District 3. Even if you missed the announcement on the network, it's pretty obvious that something is going to happen; townspeople mill about with interest as people set up tables. Irene and Mai are roaming the area, Mai mostly sticking to the medical teams standing by while Irene organizes the rest of the group. Keener eyes might spy one of the brothers responsible for the network, slipping off into the Third District through gates that stand open, but still guarded against any visitors who might attempt to approach before things are ready to go.

Off to one side, there's a shaded area, tents and a few chairs where visitors can wait to be allowed entry. There's a table full of water bottles and light snacks tucked up against the wall, to fortify you against the heat of the afternoon - and it is warm, and only going to get warmer. The natives seem to have accepted the baking sun as the normal way of things, but be careful that you don't get heatstroke.

At about half an hour past noon, someone brings out a little podium and sets it in front of the gate. Irene climbs up on it, holding a microphone in front of her mouth - her voice echoes from a number of speakers set up through the area.

"Alright, could I have my first group of volunteers over here, please? We've got your instructions ready for you to enter the district."

Looks like it's showtime. Are you ready?

((ooh; Event start! OOC information can be found here and here.))

It was the products that were what grabbed his attention first. Namely the food (Admittedly he might have been somewhat hungry, but it was nothing he couldn't deal with later). While they appeared similar enough to what Vexen was accustomed to, there were obvious differences. The most glaring being the colour. "Interesting. I can't say I've ever seen black carrots."

Or whatever they where called here.

"I'm sure they wouldn't sell it if it's not meant to be like this... right?" America said, looking closer at the black carrots. It reminded him of the color of old bananas or of the burned meals England had served him. "What color are carrots where you come from? In my world, they're bright orange."

The man at the vegetable stand had set out bins of free samples, cut up pieces of the vegetables and fruits he was selling. America looked at the samples, tempted by them but not sure where to start.

"We had those, yes, but also various shades of yellow and purple. My mother grew the yellow." The colours really didn't mean anything special, either. Vexen could remember eating all kinds of carrots as a boy, but that was another life another time.

Vexen knows exactly where to start - a piece of the black carrot. He also pockets several samples to look at later before gesturing to a neon coloured fruit. "What of that?"

"Kind of resembles a pear don't you think?" America grabbed one and checked its shape and texture. It was pear shaped alright but the color was even more vibrant than the greenest or yellowest pears. "I've never seen neon colors in nature."

While he grabbed a sample cut of the pear-like neon fruit a thought occurred to him. "Wait. Is this sort of color in a fruit actually possible in nature? These could be test-tube-fruits or something."

He bit into the piece and blinked a few times, surprised, "Whoa that is tangy! It tastes more like a pineapple than a pear!"

"Mh. I have, though never in fruits at the very least." The physical manifestation of a heart was nearly neon pink in it's natural state. "It appears almost as if someone arbitrarily decided to recolour the food. I suppose next we'll see trees with bright blue leaves."

"Mine was more kin to the blackberry than a carrot." He picks up what looks like pineapple. "Peach, I'd say. How much for one of these?"

Might as well get something to eat later what he's here. Only watch him forget he has food once they start exploring in earnest. Opps.

Vexen had a good idea. America tasted the other samples he had grabbed and purchased his favorites from the stand. With his appetite, he'd need to have some extra food back at the apartment.

"Looks like there's more than fruits and vegetables for sale around here. Now that I think about it, there's something I'd like to buy for my friend if they have it anywhere in the city... But uh we should also keep looking for one of those generators."
