Operation Reignition
Who: Anyone who wants to participate in the event!
Where: Assorted places in and around District 3!
When: Sunday afternoon (the 30th)
Summary: POWER IT UP AND GO SHOPPING.
Warnings: None.
By late morning, it's obvious that there's something going on down by the bridges to District 3. Even if you missed the announcement on the network, it's pretty obvious that something is going to happen; townspeople mill about with interest as people set up tables. Irene and Mai are roaming the area, Mai mostly sticking to the medical teams standing by while Irene organizes the rest of the group. Keener eyes might spy one of the brothers responsible for the network, slipping off into the Third District through gates that stand open, but still guarded against any visitors who might attempt to approach before things are ready to go.
Off to one side, there's a shaded area, tents and a few chairs where visitors can wait to be allowed entry. There's a table full of water bottles and light snacks tucked up against the wall, to fortify you against the heat of the afternoon - and it is warm, and only going to get warmer. The natives seem to have accepted the baking sun as the normal way of things, but be careful that you don't get heatstroke.
At about half an hour past noon, someone brings out a little podium and sets it in front of the gate. Irene climbs up on it, holding a microphone in front of her mouth - her voice echoes from a number of speakers set up through the area.
"Alright, could I have my first group of volunteers over here, please? We've got your instructions ready for you to enter the district."
Looks like it's showtime. Are you ready?
((ooh; Event start! OOC information can be found here and here.))

"Found any yet? If you have and you want a hand, I'd be glad to lend one."
[She brightens at the mention of shopping.]
"Yeah! I've just done a little browsing- Um, in between looking for generators, of course! But there's a nice selection of things, here."
no subject
[ Pointing in the direction of a space between two large shops. ]
But to be honest, I got caught up looking in the windows too. Plus it's so hot the air conditioning inside feels nice...
[ His panting polar bear has to agree. ]
If you wanna help, I'm game! Maybe we can get it going. Kumajiro can help too, a little.
no subject
[In fact, she's already drifting towards the space between, hovering a little off the ground to get a better look before glancing over her shoulder.]
"By the way, I'm M'gann. Good to meet you, and be working with you?"
[A good work attitude is important, after all. And polite introductions never hurt.]
no subject
I'm Matthew. Pleasure to meet you. [ With a sheepish smile, hesitantly holding out his hand to shake. Contact was going to become important anyway soon, right? ]
...Oh, you're uh- floating? [ Is she supposed to do that? ]
no subject
"Oh...Yeah, it's something I...I like?"
[That's okay, isn't it? She knows it's not something common on Earth, but it's still so nice; better than walking, for most occasions, and it comes more naturally to her as well.]
"It's levitation, and I- Well, it's kind of a reflexive thing? I feel more confident with it than walking."
[She convinces at least one shoe tip to touch the ground, as she speaks.]
no subject
[ Kumajiro walked over to her, sniffing the space under her shoes where she'd previously been. ]
Sorry, he's- He never listens to me anyway. Jiro, come on, come back over here... [ Canada pleads, but he's ignored. The polar bear merely stares up at her curiously. ]
no subject
[As long as there's no attempted maulings, really, she's fine with large white wild animals. Wolf has made her a lot more relaxed around them. And as for the other question, M'gann nods before catching herself.]
"Well, not ALWAYS. More like since I was four or five,"
[In biological years, which she makes the conversion to easily enough.]
"But I think that's the case for most Martians. Learning to fly while learning to walk is how it happened with me and all my siblings."
no subject
[ He laughs to swallows his surprise- They would've known about aliens, right? But- Alternate universes, he reminds himself. Probably not from our Mars, right? ...Right? ]
So, how high can you go?
no subject
[As for her? M'gann seems quite proud of the statement, and that she's apparently found someone to agree with it. At the question, she glances up...And up. And up some more, well past the rooflines.]
"I haven't tested it a lot here, but...I can manage until the atmosphere gets thin. Then I can try shifting my lungs to better handle the oxygen, but it's not very comfortable. But definitely above those buildings."
no subject
[ Following her glance. ] Nice. Bet you can keep up with those robots we've got running around. See them flying sometimes.
no subject
[She assumed they were something like bio-ships or airplanes. Stepping back and thinking about it, it's only just occurred to her how incongruous that might be with a city like this.]
"...Hello, Megan. Robots make sense, though I don't know if I could or not. I've never really done any racing...Mostly just going from place to place and enjoying being in the air."
[With that said, she looks back down the street.] "Can't always pick out generators from so high up, though."
