Who: Everyone Where: Mostly Districts 2 and 3 When: 20th September Summary: In light of the new district reopening, there's still a lot to do! This log is open to everyone if they want to see what else is going on in the city, or help with some important tasks. Warnings: Inbox death may occur. System overload at own risk. SOME NPC RESPONSES WILL BE SLOW UNTIL THE ONE WHO PLAYS THEM IS PRESENT.
I'm only happy when it rains...
Some of the natives have been busy. There's a little stand set up in the plaza that wasn't there before. They have minions, too: people with clipboards are assaulting recent arrivals on the street with requests. It seems that most of the employees are helping with the district reopening, and that means everyone else is incredibly understaffed.
But wait! Don't walk away! If your character helps with some of the chores around the city, they'll get a little money added to their stipend, as well as a coupon to the new store opening today in District 3.
District 2 Residents will be asked to help hang up tiny twinkling lights in the trees lining the streets, nothing so fancy as during the summer festival but something with lasting power throughout the oncoming rainfall. There are water fountains that need to be insulated, gigantic mountains of leaves that should be disposed of, and plants requiring trimming.
District 3 In addition to the winterization chores going on in the second district, the shopping district has their own problems to take care of. Large potted plants need to be moved inside-- that's a job for physically fit characters-- and little tents need to be taken down. Oh, and they need lights in the trees here, too.
New Store There is a lot of excitable chattering surrounding the new store on the main shopping street. The sign is currently covered in plastic and unreadable.
Boxes Near the water, groups of trees, or small parks, characters might stumble upon a group of canvas-covered boxes and someone desperately looking for help with them. There are a lot, after all.
YOU MAY NOW REPLY. Thank you for your patience!
NPCs will pop into the last two sections. Otherwise, comment and threadjack at will.

DISTRICT 2
Re: DISTRICT 2
And M'gann is getting quite proud of the leaf pile she's creating. According to the information she got from a certain someone, it should be at the right size, pretty soon. At least, she's pretty SURE mini-van sized is the right dimensions for leaf jumping. And with all the leaves scattered around, M'gann has to admit that she can't see what else is supposed to be done with them.]

Hey! Miss M!
[Someone certainly is perched on the edge of a roof with a pair of binoculars and a hastily-discarded string of lights next to him. And he's trying not to hum the theme song of a terrible sitcom that predates him, but it was so infernally catchy and he can't even remember the words--]
Nine yards to your six, wind just blew in some fresh ammo.

[Yuna comes walking up slowly, holding a rake of her own in one hand as she waves with the other, a small smile on her face. She's not exactly sure how M'gann is going to react to seeing her after that weird cookie-drunk outburst the other day, but green skin is probably a pretty good sign. Still, she'll wait to see what kind of mood the other girl is in first. They probably have a thing or two to talk about now that she's more coherent.]

Holy shit, you could probably get lost in that pile. Find some way to make it a maze and watch as poor innocent people out for a weekend walk vanish forever.
[in other words, that's kind of impressive.]

Re: DISTRICT 2
Still, he's been doing a good job, largely thanks to plenty of experience hanging the lights on the Christmas tree back home, even if he did usually have Aunt May pitching in. Uncle Ben, too. Which, naturally, brings on one more pang of homesickness every time he thinks about it. For most people, working this high on a ladder would be enough to deter letting the mind wander, but a few feet off the ground really isn't enough to even faze him anymore.]
no subject
That's why, when Soushi is trying to search for someone to help, he notices the boy on the ladder working alone on decorating the tree, it isn't difficult to miss the pensive expression as the boy's face as he have seen it many times before on himself.]
Excuse me, do you need assistance in decorating a tree? [A polite smile.] ...it would seem you have much on your mind.

[Guess who's not impressed by the whole "having your name in lights" thing, Tony. No really, go on, guess.
Because if you guessed anyone other than the four-armed alien who thinks you're a blacksmith, you are the wrongingest wronger to ever wrong in the history of wrong. But in related, good news, she's at least fairly calm today. Which is to say, she's still fairly annoyed at everything, but only at a level that doesn't carry the risk of imminent destructive tantrums.]
...are you spelling your name with that?

I think you mean "oh yes"

He nods politely at anyone who passes him, but is mostly lost in thought, still not sure what to do about Lelouch. Still not sure if this place is telling the truth, if they truly need the help or if it is just an excuse to imprison them.
Looking around at how this district has come to life, Suzaku can't help but believe the former.
no subject
But he still doesn't know too much about this place, huh. Not enough from actual people who live here, either way. So when he sees Suzaku helping out with the plants too, he can't help but wander over - even if Josuke is a fairly weird sight, a tall guy in a sailor outfit. ]
.. Were you one of the people taken to this place too? [ No "excuse me" since social customs are still.. not really something he's used to.. ]

After a while, she moves to light duty, stringing up lights in the trees. While she can get them in some of the lower branches, she soon finds herself standing on her tiptoes and occasionally lightly tossing the strings of lights up in the hopes of getting them slightly higher...with the occasional consequence of them falling back into her face, but still. At least she's trying hard?]

Re: DISTRICT 3
She's currently occupying herself grabbing the largest potted plants she can find, and carrying them to whatever destination they needed two at a time. Which was really pretty easy for her-- not only was she strong, but she had the benefit of having four arms to work with. The lower ones could be used for supporting the weight, while the upper arms were each used more to stabilize it than anything else. It let her carry one on each side, even for the largest plants.
She hasn't even broken a sweat yet, and is making little effort to talk to anyone unless it's necessary. And whenever the shopkeepers thank her for her work, or so much as greet her, all they get for the trouble are narrowed eyes staring them down and total silence from Looma herself.]
